Hi having wanted a Z since the age of 14 ive now got one 10yrs later. Its a 91 Uk manual twin turbo. Its got 118.000 miles with a full dealership history up till 109.000 with 6000 mile intervals and a complete engine out rebuild at 98000. So hopefully it wont be one of the bad ones i have read so much about...... but!!

What i want to know is what kinda oil/air filters do i use? The best plugs for it? The best Oil semi/full for it? etc. Im aware that they cannot be treated like a poormans super car and im fully prepared to maintain it, I need to know what the majority of you guys use on your Z's? My friend works for a local Mitsubishi dealership where he services evo's gto's etc So it will be in his capable hands. I imagine i will only put 3/4 thousand on it per year as i have a daily driver.

Any hints tips and knowledge you guys have will be taken on board!!

All the best.

Do a forum search mate, these topics have been covered many times before.

Welcome bud!

Always use genuine parts where you can, ie oil filters etc

Use genuine plugs too, depending on what boost you are

running though, you may want a colder plug instead.

As for oil, you will here many different views, i always used

magnatech in mine and had no probs at all, others may tell

you different.

Have a look on here, loads of info regarding the z.. http://www.300zx.org.uk

Welcome to the forum and the world of 30zx ownership!

Warning - do not use anything but the genuine Nissan oil filter!

Air filter - replace the air box with an Apexi or K&N (Apexi is the best), failing that just pop a pair of K&N elements into the air-box if you don't fancy the whole induction kit thing.

As for oil, the can of worms has been opened!

If your car is stock or slightly modded, then a decent semi-synthetic will be fine, changed every 3000 miles. Nissan recommend 10w40 so Magnatec will suffice. I personally prefer a decent fully synthetic for Turbo engines. Most readily available synthetics are 5w40 which again is just fine - I use Shell Helix Ultra (advantage is I can collect pluspoints on it ;) ). Changing a fully synth ever 3000 miles is overkill IMO and leaving it 4-5000 miles will be OK.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
