Go to www.download.com and search for some utilities called File Scavenger, Final Data or Recover98. I have tested all three and you have a reasonable chance of getting the file back.

Should be a lesson to you - don't store stuff on the desktop !

If you can find a copy of undelete which is a DOS 6.2 command, may find some or all the information. Search the web for it. try Download.com

Firstly STOP USING THE COMPUTER!!!! If the part of the disk the data is on gets overwritten you have no chance of recovery. Powerquest do a piece of software called Lost & Found - this has been 100% successfull every time with me. Cost is around £45 I think.

As andy said: don't use your computer, until the file has been recovered !

I've had VERY good experiences with recover4all:

http://www.recover4all.com/

it fits on a floppy and you can run it from there.

You are all wrong.

Double click on the "my computer icon"

Right click on the "my c dive"

And click Format wink.gif

Thats how a twat would do it biggrin.gif, but then again mabey just dont lose your information first.

No cos you cant format a drive with an OS on while the OS is in use. Hehehehe. Sorry about being picky. wink.gif

Just remember NOT to install any of these utilities to the C drive or whichever you deleted the files from! You may overwrite what you are trying to recover frown.gif

Either use one that runs from a floppy or put it on another disk/partition if available. Alternatively take your drive out and put it in a mates PC as a second drive for recovery. All have risks and you really need to know what you are doing.

Good luck.

The larger the HDD the better for you. But there is no point saying dont install this that or what ever. Dont forget every time you log onto a web site it downloads the images and cookies. Every time you shut down and boot up, thousands of temp files are being made and deleted.
