Yo,

I just found this forum tonight. We imported a 1999 'classic' Zx300 from new and it now has 50,000 miles. I'm no mechanic but I think I should perhaps find a caring garage. I'm not sure the Croydon Nissan garage really gives value for a service. Any recommendations? We live near Reigate, postcode RH3 7DU. Also can anyone advise when Cam Belts need to be serviced? I'd never considered that cam belts were not covered in a regular service but a chance conversation has indicated otherwise!

Cheers

Welcome,

Wow, a geunine 99spec owned from new

Take a look in the Traders section for Specialist 300zx Garages.

The Cambelt change is at 60k miles, Imaginatively named "the 60k service". Its quite a large job and will typically cost around £300-£500 from a specialist (and about £1k from Nissan!). Its a labour intensive job and incliudes a few other parts that should be changed at the same time.

Any pics of the zed ?

i look at it the same way as you phil... nissan charge twice as much for maintenance and probably know next to naff all about them.. im sure they very rarely see them anymore. however, a specialist such as paul (southwestmech) who knows the car inside and out, is a genuine enthusiast and has a passion for the work he does, carrying out the same job for less money! i know which way id rather go.

Done 2 of them now :p, willing to take on abother one if you feel like bringing it to the midlands, be a bit of an honour doing a 99 spec tbh.

And yeah, lets see it! What colour?

I know its easy to consider the closest garage but believe me it is always worth travelling to get the job done by people who love the cars - regardless of the inconvenience to yourself - i used to travel 250 miles to get mine done but now i have found one sooo much closer

Blimey,

This forum is great.

It seems I must take some pictures soon. The car is black - that's enough for now. Perhaps I better get it valeted first.
