The Glass Bridge Construction of the Skywalk began March of 2004 and is estimated to be completed by 4th quarter of 2006.

The Glass Bridge will be suspended 4,000 feet above the Colorado River on the very edge of the Grand Canyon. On May 2005, the final test was conducted and the structure passed engineering requirements by 400 percent, enabling it to withstand the weight of 71 fully loaded Boeing 747 airplanes (more that 71 million pounds).

The bridge will be able to sustain winds in excess of 100 miles per hour from 8 different directions, as well as an 8.0 magnitude earthquake within 50 miles. More than one million pounds of steel will go into the construction of the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

I was in the grand canyon three weeks ago and I can tell you that skywalk is bloody amazing. The only problem is that it is being built by the local indian contractors.

I've walked on the glass floor in the CN Tower and it is the weirdest feeling when you step on!

The brain is screaming "NOOOOOOOO you pillock, you're gonna die" LOL.

I'd do it :D I have no problem with hights as long as they are solid, and that looks pretty solid to me :D

Bring it on

lol yep, and it's funny how many people walk across the metal joins rather than the glass itself!

I think I'd give it a go, once I'd seen a few people go around without it collapsing...

Ive walked across a 10ft x 10ft glass floor at the top of blackpool tower, should I have kept that to myself :mac1:
