I was driving my Zed yesterday.

I noticed the torque converter wasn't locking up and overdrive wasn't operating at all.

I stopped. Turned the car off and started it again. The POWER light flashed 16 (I think) times. Then the car was totaly fine again.

It's done this a handful of times over the last two and a half years.

Is it trying to tell me something? Is something wrong? Is it two cars welded together?

Is the "power" light that is flashing? that light is for the auto box.

The flashing is not a code just an alert that a code is present in the auto box ecu memory, you need to do an auto box diagnostic and see what the code is.

Cheers chaps - I'm going to the post office later so it'll be warm and I can give that a try.

Any idea how to move the gear shift stick with the engine off? I tried lifting and pushing the little red release lever with no effect. Pushing the brake pedal didn't work either.

The little red lever in front of the stick didn't do anything at all when you pushed it in?

I'll try again. I wasn't sure whether to pull or push.

I don't like to force anything. Not after that incident with the French exchange student.

pmsl  It should push in without too much force. Try wipggling the gear lever back and forth as you do it. I'm not sure if it goes in until you've pulled it down to the next gear anyway

IIRC you have to press the little lever on the front of the gear lever down, and press the button on the lever at the same time.
