Im planning on having some work done in the near future on the engine.

The plenum will be removed and new hydraulic lifters being fitted. So going to need plenum gasket and rocker gaskets. How much further work is involved in fitting new forged pistons at this point and can you just fit forged pistons (and na squirters) without having to hone(bore the heads)?

Thanks in advance

Hi Barry

yes you can just fit forged pistons :) you would need to get the block bored for the new pistons and either fit na squirters or slightly bend the tt ones to point at 90 degrees.

it is alot of work as you need to strip the engine right the way to the bare block but it gives it the strength if your planning to go higher power in the future and with the exchange rate in the USA its not expensive to buy a full rebuild kit with pistons etc.

give me a bell if you want to chat more about it mate

what makes them better than je or wossner? just curious.

probably not alot, you could go on theres a lot about, i like arias forged excellent design for the circlip, and rather than fecking around trying to pry them dodgy circlips weisco supply, arias use a sprung type clip that screws in and makes fitting the pistons to the rods in seconds rather than hours :D

not sure what je or cp but both have good credentials, off subject i wouldnt touch wesico with a barge pole personally :p seen a few c-clip failures and wrecked block's being the outcome.

i agree , just ask stu (srrea)

I was led to believe the wieseco circlip problem was down a bad batch quite some time ago. They are still probably the most commonly used Z32 forged pistons.

i think its mainly as they are cheap, and easy to get hold off, and yes they admitted to a bad batch of circlips, however they are just a PITA to fit regardless
