New wheel stud and dont do it again :nono: , the car can be driven with one less wheel nut but I would suggest you take it easy till its sorted.

For what a new stud will cost I cant see much point in trying to cut corners on something that keeps the wheel on the car, peace of mind alone makes it worth while doing properly.

On a serious note, cant you recut the thread with a tap & Dye set?

the wheels are the only bit of the car to touch the ground, would you want to take chances on a peformace car?

When i bought the car it had only 3/5 on the OSF and 4/5 on the NSR. Its ok to drive but i wouldnt advise long journeys or hard driving.

New studs are pretty easy to do on your drive if you HAVE cacked the thread, i'm doing the 3 tomorrow. Remove the wheel, caliper and disc and gently knock the bolt out of the hub making sure to align the indent in the hub casing with the bolt. When replacing remember to align the splines before knocking it in.

Front and rear bolts are different so make sure you get the right ones. My two front were easy to get, but the rear had to come from Japan :(

i didnt do it

how does he get the wheel off, the nut is stuck on the thread?

lots of wheatabix and swearing it will come off but it will be fooked when i does, i have a few spare rear studs if anyone needs a replacement.

a tip when you put the new one in put a nut on it and tighten it up with out the wheel on to pull the stud into the hub. i pu the wheel back on and managed to knock the stud out of the hub :headvswal

Use the hot spanner technique.

cheers guys,

pete, whats the hot spanner technique?

out of interest how much are new studs? I've got a fooked one on each wheel where some dumbass :o put the wrong nuts on.

I belive front and rear studs have diffrent amount of splines beware.

cheers guys,

pete, whats the hot spanner technique?

Oxy-acetyline torch is the hot spanner.

tecnique requirs lots of skill and practice.

Basically involves heating up the offending nut or stud till almost melting point, then undoing. Must be heated up REALLY quicly and removed BEFORE heat spreads.

Relies on one piece of metal expanding quicker than everything else around it due to the heat gradient created.

WARNING!!!! DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!

Needs to be practised on scrap components first. LOL And you need an assistant to remove the nut while first person is still heating.

My mate and his buddy never fail with it. Always impressive.

si if ya need a hand give us a shout

cheers bud, i may just do that.

whats happening is, as im undoing the nut(the wheel is still on by the way :D ) because the nut isnt on straight as it moves down he thread of the stud, the socket is getting wedged in the hole of the wheel where the nuts go, to the point where it becomes almost imposible to turn the wheel brace it feels like its gonna snap.

hope that makes sence
