ok, i give in, after an hour in the garage i have yet to learn what is holding the rear spoiler on!! is it bonded or have i not removed enough internal trim panels to find the fasteners??

Featured Replies

thought it maybe after another hour of trying, is there anyway to get it off without wrecking it?

Yeah, you need get a piece of string and use it as a 3d saw in effect and cut through the bond between the spoiler and tailgate.

Which is not that easy to do. i ended up just ripping to fooker off lol. gurrrrr :wack:

i just grabbed it and ripped the damn thing off... to be honest at my size and weight i was surprised i didnt pull the bootlid off as well!!

so you have undone the nuts in the corners off both sides? if you have dome that then get something under one of the ends and start lifting it up, there is a bon under it but with a good grip and a real hard pull you can just rip the fookin thing off..

It's not too bad if you keep soaking the string in oil. :)

Never seen an OE spoiler thats worth saving, I was surprised just how well mine was bonded on, I tried the string in oil cheesewire style but gave in and ripped it off in the end, happy tugging :p

 at least I managed to get mine off in one piece

I used the strong saw technique and it completely destoryed any paint that used to be under there. Under the front corners there are 2 push clips which are seemingly impossible to undo so I cut them off with a hack saw. If you do that then just pull on it really hard it should come off reasonably cleanly.

sorry to hijack thread but was just wondering how much it costs to replace and respray a spoiler in a place like Z-Tech if you provide them with a replacement spoiler

Z-Tech don't do bodywork afaik.

The spoiler you'd get a fibreglass replacement from the ZCentre.

can i modify my question slightly. how much would you expect to pay for a whole boot lid (spoiler, rear windscreen, rear wiper, etc) in good condition? tried searching but no luck. Is it an easy job to replace a boot lid or very difficult as heavy, awkward and hard to line up. is there different boot lid sizes for different models, SWB/LWB, Jap/UK etc?
