I only have the red 'valet' key for my Z32 and it has a 4 digit code on it. Is it possible to obtain a 'full' key that will also open/lock the glove compartment?

AIUI you just need a 'Full' key blank (the black one) and have it cut to the same code.

A proper key cutting place should be able to cut from just the code.

(I may be totally wrong though, so wait for confirmation LOL)

i just bought a new blank master and new valet key from the states, i previously only had a copy master key. the cutting is identical, but the fluting is different. SO you can take your valet key to a key cutter and cut to a nissan blank. and it will open the glove box because of the correct fluting and will be the full key.

my local key cutters insisted the 2 keys wouldnt work in the same ignition because of different flutes even though i explained that 1 was a valet key, i told them to just do it anyway and it worked, so just tell them to cut it if yours say the same to you.

Thanks for the info, guys, but what a shame. I was thinking of getting two keys that were on Australian eBay but the fluting was different to mine so I assumed they were not suitable. The have now sold and were only US$10.90 including postage for the two (about £6.00). I will keep looking out for some more.

I agree, if you want a master AND a valet key then your eBay link is a good bargain. I have just bought TWO master key blanks (the black ones) off an Australian site and they cost me £5.72 including postage for the two. They were priced in US$ (not Aus$) but Paypal takes care of that. the link is http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NISSAN-300ZX-1984-96-Deluxe-KEYS-Key-Blanks-2-NB_W0QQitemZ130022044611QQihZ003QQcategoryZ40016QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem . Although they are on a buy-it-now price of US$20.95 you will find no-one bids on them so you should get them for the US$7.95 start price as I did.

I had them cut at a local keycutter and they both worked perfectly first time.

Does anybodys key code here start with a C? Nissan told me all their codes start with X and Y so I told him to change the C to X and it worked for me.

I'm hoping someone can confirm this as it would mean no more ignition/door barrel swapping malarki.

BTW mine's a import.

is the key code writen anywhere other than on the key? as neither of my keys have a code on them

Carrying on from the post above, I had mine cut from the code which was on the inside of the door barrel, really faint but just visible.

My valet key doesn't have a letter at all, only four numbers.
