I'v been thinking about my engine bay at lot lately as it's dirty.

As you might have guessed I quite like shiney bits LOL. But I've also seen some very nice Powder Coated bits and thought they look nice especially if in the same colour as a car's interior.

When time and money premits I intended to change my grey leather interior to red leather(MX5 type colour) interior I'm now considering the same colour for bits in my engine bay. Any thoughts?????

I would colour code eileen but still try and get some bling under there too. if i could ever afford to do it i would colour code and mix with some chrome

I'd certainly not be going red leather....would look somewhat garish in a grey car. Daves_new_ZX is the only Z I've seen that's pulled off having a red leather interior.

I agree, I think the only colours that would really work would be grey, black, white or cream.

White leather is a little...erm....'too much'. Cream is as bright as I'd go. I'm going for a light grey inners and charcoal outters on mine with light grey round the dash bottoms, door cards and console.

well eileen only asked about the engine so she must be fine with her interior choice of colour so thats fair enough. but i must say i liking that engine posted above, oohhhhhhhhhhhhhh if only money was no object!!

lol good point!

Yep I like that engine bay too.

Oh in case you was thinking bright pillar box red I wasn't as the red found in the MX5 is a muted red, hard to explain. I would also when it's resprayed in Graphic Grey give it a deep muted red flex's through it.

Oh Bunny boy purple interior aaaaaa don't think it's quite me. It'll clash with the red flex. LOL But you go ahead mate as you know I like you're purple nasty.

I'd say follow Smithy's example if you want red engine bay dress-up, his looks really good.

iam about to post up lots of powdercoted parts from my engine bay all done in very shinny silver

send me your e-mail and i can send lots of pics all going cheap

Thanks mate, I kinda went for an uncluttered, clean and hopefully colour contrasting effect :)

I just wish I could take better pics in the sun, theres gold flake in all the covers, gold candy in the plenum and some of me hoses now look orange in the pics

cheers

Controversial I know but I've never seen the point of blinging up the engine bay.

It's a bit like shoving diamonds where the sun don't shine (if you'll 'scuse my French!)

I'd spend the money on suspension, bushes, brakes etc.

Just my opinion!

I would add engine bays like yours Vinz are amazing - they impress car enthusiasts and non-car enthusiasts.

But a small/medium amount of engine bay bling isn't going to impress anyone.

Sgt C's Zelda

Had red leather interior and was the best looking interior on the board.

Small, small who mentioned small, not me when I bling up the engine bay I'll be going full out. Just looking at the options at present. LOL

oh mine'll be good just you wait and see :D the bay is black anyway because they only sprayed the outside, plenum is being polished, purple samco hoses, a bit of chrome here and there.

It'll be tasteful :D

Well good luck to you all. :duffer:

I have to say I admire it, in the same perverse way I admire Escort vans with £8K stereos.

He he, thanks Tim. But no £8K ICE in my car, and there never will be. ICE is just not my bag man. LOL
