Ok, so I'm looking to replace the stock alloys my Z has got, probably with some 18" wheels.

My Z is black and so I've got this nagging thought in my mind that some black alloys might look good... but then on the other hand there's this other little voice that says regular silver/metallic looking alloys are the safe bet.

What do people think?

Only black rims that look good are ones with a dished and polished rim lip. Black wheels loose deffinition otherwise.

Anthracite centres are far more attractive.

Am I right in thinking the optimum sizes are:

front 8.5 , tyre size 235/40/18

rear 9.5 , tyre size 265/35/18

black rims look w@nk imo

My advice would be to get yourself along to the JAE Show this weekend and see which wheels look good on the hundred or so Z's attending.

There's some stunning wheels available that look absolute pants when on the car!

That I can believe. I wonder how many people have cried themselves to sleep at night over that one!

I nearly did when I fitted my current wheels. Was unsure when I swapped my RAYS wheels for the Advan ones....but happy now as I've gotten used to them.

I think black rims look great on white and red cars and other light colours.

On a dark car I think silver or chrome is best.

I think the colour of my car is best for dark coloured alloys:

You're right - they look chuffin' great!

Only one colour for black cars, and thats white alloys in my opinion.

White alloys should be banned form all colours of Z IMO

Mine´ll have black centres and polished lips when they´re finished (in 2010  ) but i wouldn´t paint the whole wheel black. Looks crap when the tyres get mucky?

Also the only car i can think of when i hear black with black is KITT...

Maybe that's it. Maybe some kind of subliminal KITT influence is at work here.

if ur unsure just mock it up in photoshop, tek 10 minutes with a couple of decent pics..

I gave photoshop a try with my zed thinking balck centers and polished rims but i think silver/anthracite like the guys were saying is probably the way forward with decent wheels.

My rims are chrome at the moment, look nice but the chrome is starting to come off so if you do go for it make sure its done well. Spend the extra at time of purchase!

With a black Zed I think you only need to consider the following:

1. plain alloys, nice and shiny

2. white

3. gold

I like the idea of gold myself. That is the long term plan for my zed...

black wheels look good on red cars

oh sorry mate i always thought you just never cleaned yours
