has any one done this convertion and if so what problems did you run into and did you custom fabricate the mounts and so on or buy a kit from yank land would be very intrested in any info as i feel like im :headvswal trying to find out more about such a convertion

MantaV8 has put an American 5.7L V8 in his.

Several others are putting Infiniti 4.5L V8s in theirs I think.

And the best bit for you , it,s for sale :dance: Save yourself a lot of work , get in touch with him bud , it,s a bl00dy bargain :bow:

Probably going to get a slap for even asking, but how does it perform compared to a stock TT? I'm assuming MantaV8's car will leave a standard TT well behind but I've never seen any comments about performance (although it sounds awesome).

I think its about the same as a mildly modded tt mate. His v8 is Na, not supercharged etc but silly pretty powerful.

Plus I believe the V8 engine is lighter than the Nissan original.

Actually Richard, the Chevy lump is around 100 pounds heavier! but lost so much weight in other areas(autobox) that the car stands higher!! :wack:

Performance wise, around the 350hp mark so ranks with a TT but power delivery is sooooo different,i.e.4th doing 30mph,push the pedal,it grunts and goes! :)

Yes it is for sale and if you wanted to see it there is no better place than JAE!

and i have a 300zx tt 2+2 the now just the engine is on its way out so i thought instead of spending any more money on it id like to go down the v8 route as i love the sound of a v8 and the looks of the zed so why not combind them :D

manta can i ask what your estimated cost for your convertion was and did yours start off as an auto because converting it from auto to manual is the only thing im not really sure about

Engine cost around 4k to build-depends if your reconing or sticking in a used lump!-mounts were made by me,bellhousing conversion cost £600,prop £180

Eeenteresting. That's not too bad at all considering its an NA. Must be nice to have no lag, and not having to worry about the revs being at 2500 before you get any real power. Wonder what would happen if you did turbo- or super-charge it. :)

ZX mad,I'm selling due to an iminant move to Spain,believe me it's the only excuse good enough to get rid!

Andy, mileage is around mid-late teens depending if you can keep your foot off!

Engine is a Small block Chevy 350 sourced from ebay!-but loads of places sell cut-outs,as for pics mate,search my posts-there's a few! :rolleyes: :)

dunno just have mad thoughts that one day ill brake hard and the pedal will fall off or some thing lol

 

so how hard was the wiring loom to wire up
