Welcome

tbh...its borderline at £3k.......a lot of sellers are looking at the prices for rough ones and incorrectly pricing themselves in that bracket..so yes, you may get lucky and buy a decent example for that sort of cash.

But be carefull...there will be a lot of rough examples out there.

There is a good buyers guide here : http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

Come along to some local meets (or JAE - the biggest jap event of the year next weekend, where we will have 60+ zed's going), get to know the members and take one alone when you go to view cars.

Yes you can but I would expect problems or bad body work for that price. But you never know. I suppose it all depends on its age.

I paid £6200 for mine. I recommend the trader 'Import-ance'. He does some lovely zeds, which have some very expensive, top quality mods like mine but they are going for a lot more than £3k. HTH

I paid 3k. Didnt mind doing some of the cosmetic work it needed, but now the engines fooked.

So make sure you get a decent one.

Another thing to watch is that this car isn't cheap to run even if nothing major goes wrong, so you want to make sure you can afford it before committing yourself otherwise you'll end up in a right mess. If in doubt I'd say wait a bit, but that's just me.

You will find one for that price, but the chances of it being half decent are 50/50

Some real sheds out there, be very careful what you buy. If you have only got £3k to spend and can't stretch to anymore, then maybe the car isn't for you as maintenance/running costs are and can be very high.

If you really want a Z and don't have the funds, then you're better off buying an NA. Not as quick, but more reliable and cheaper to purchase. You'd get a pretty tidy NA for that price and they are pretty bullet proof and far less to go wrong.

I paid over £5k for mine and unfortunately I have had to rebuild the engine due to something that had happened way before my purchase.

I paid £2000 for my UK manual TT from a car dealer it came in as a part exchange thats why it was cheap. I snapped it up UK manual dont come along that often for that money engine was good and body fair, but i didnt mind as it was totally standard and i wanted a project car so i didnt mind having to do a bit of work on it, then a turbo siezed up, got pair of turbos for £150 of ebay + price of fitting cost £1400 but inc new clutch and timing belt fitted while engine was out. So if you dont mind having to possibly spend a few quid on it to put your on mark on it then 3k should get you something to start with, Some on here for sale but proberbly bit more money but you will know a bit of history about the cars. Save up as much as you can take your time and buy the best you can afford, if this is your first Z read the past posts learn as much as you can then decide if this is the car for you, they aint your avarege car where you can just pop into your local breakers yard, car spare shop or back street workshop with! They see these come in and straight away the £££££ light up in there eyes, just look under the bonnet of a TT you will see what i mean. Good luck with your searching

If you know a bit about cars then an import auction might be the place for you.why pay dealer prices.A lot of good vahicles can be bought at auctions for peanuts. Why pay a dealers mark up when you can cut out the middle man.for example a 93 zed manual at southampton auction would set you back about £2500.you can hear the car running before you buy and the auction house will have the papers for car.the registration process is straightforward and is less than £30 i f i recall.

donut is selling his look on board he asking offers 3k and above

there are 3 I know of around that price on here that are realy good cars.

1 is woofully underpriced

My advice is to save 5K and buy a good one from one of the club members.

The other route is just dreadful and smacks of "desperation"

If your going to stay with the car for more than a year or two you want to start with a good one.

The point is that there are cars for sale right here that have been loved had good cash spent on them and then for one raeson or another (like being banned) they come up for sale and all that hard earned cash is just passed on...you cant get it back..so buy a club car thats been loved.

:o)
