Is it true imports are filled with DOT 3 brake fluid?

And is a case of drain and fill with DOT 4/DOT 5 or another recommended spec? Cheers

more than likely not

You may like to take a look at a previous post:- http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/ubbforum/Forum1/HTML/000568.html

- Is there an easier way of doing this? This previous post also references a URL to an interesting piece on DOT-4 v DOT-5.

There are various opinions, but the view I came to was:

- I kept seeing references to DOT-3 on imports, so I should change anyway to DOT4/5;

- DOT-5 is great but not really needed for 'road cars', - "maintenance/replaced between races";

- If you go for DOT-5 you should have the system fully flushed, etc.. and replace all rubber seals.

- I came to the conclusion that DOT-4 and the SS Brakelines were for me (being fitted by my local garage today & tomorrow, along with new clutch & bushes). I will reconsider DOT-5 if/when the braking system needs overhauling, but more than likely will stay with DOT-4.

I know there are a number of other opinions, and I look forward to being shot down in flames. It's a good forum for learning more, and I really enjoy the advice & comment!
