Just had someone look at the zed. We went for a test drive, talked through the mods and receipts and all that, then pulled it apart and did a compression test which came out 150 on all six ( after checking with two different compression testers because it showed it as being 130 odd to start with in number one cylinder but was the same as the others with the other tester). Anyhows as expected he really liked it and has left a deposit, and is going to pick it up in the next few days or so. I knew I'd be a little sad but TBH I feel absolutly gutted now. I hope I'm doing the right thing as its been the best car I've ever had and never gave me any problems. If I had more money knocking around I'd keep the Zed as well but I've got no slush fund in case of problems with the Rx7 and also need to buy something practical that can tow. I feel really sad   I think its gone to a good owner though (already a member on here but I'll leave it for him to let you all know about it). I knocked some cash off to sort the bits that need doing so I'm basically getting what I paid for it almost exactly one year ago. I have spent over £2500 on it though fitting the skyline brake system and regular new tyres and all but its been worth all the money I've spent as I've had a great experience with it. I'm sure it will do the same for its new owner.

Very sad, Dave

I'm not going anywhere mate! I've just renewed my subscription lol. I'll be along, we'd be lost without knowing you guys up here!

Ahhh Dave!!! Feel sorry your not gonna be a Z owner anymore but really glad your staying on here!!! :hyper: I think this place is more about the people and the friends we've made rather than just about the cars... There just a talking point!!! ;)

Look at it this way your awesome Z is now sold, and soon to be out the way... Really hope the next owner gets as much joy and pleasure out of it as you have had... I'm sure they will!!! Good luck with the RX and hope to see it in Cornwall soon!!! ;)

Thanks guys, its really appreciatted. I havn't spent as much time at meets as I'd have liked due to moving house and leaving the marines and all that but I feel like I have friends here and definitely will be getting to meets if you don't mind the mind me turning up in the 'slippery banana' ! The soon to be new owner isn't that far away so hopefully I'll be able to keep an eye on it as well! :)

Wonder if in a year's time you'll miss it and come back to the fold? I've seen it happen on here a few times in the short while I've had one.

I must admit the Rx7 doesn't fill the space that the zed has taken up. The rx7 is stupidly quick and handles phenomenally but its incredibly loud and isn't something you could drive everyday. I love it but in a different way to the zed. The zed was very fast and great handling but it was also great taking the roof off and cruising around in the sun. Also it drives so smooth that its always a pleasure. Hopefully I'll have enough money to use the rx7 on tracks which is basically why I bought it as although my zed is well orientated to the track it still would make sense to have something lighter. Only down side is I'll have to get a sh*tty daily drive that can tow. I am thinking about getting a cheap drift b*tch though that I can rag around?? watch this space lol

Christ mate, you built yours with your own hands! I was gutted when my first zed went (even though it was fecked) because I'd rebuilt it myself

Nope :) I'm sure he'll let you know when he gets home so I'll leave it as a surprise!

Sorry to hear its defo going mate, its a well sorted motor, still miss it myself, one of the best i had,new owner is lucky chap.

Tony :)

Traitor - get out! Get out and never come back.

lol - only joking mate.

Don't be a stranger. Plus that RX7 looks fookin gorgeous so I can understand you getting it. It's always sad to see a car you've loved go (unless like me the sills are always full of rust and filler).

And the lucky owner is me!!!!!!

Made the same mistake as Royal on my first Z, so now getting a loverly Z thats all sorted. Really nice to drive and power delivery is so smooth!!!

As for that RX-7 though, blimmey thats something else. Think my ears are still rumbling, lol.

Glad I have a nice Z on the way now for some good fun motoring, unlike my lemon I bought to start with!!!!

Cheers Dave, nice to meet you and the doves from above!!!! hope it didnt poo on my back, lol.

At least it has gone to a good home though mate. :(

Yours was indeed a fine spec'd ZX and I do feel for you seeing it go. I couldn't bear to part with mine, hence the reason for keeping it.......

......although a nice mint SWB TT manual with leather may tempt me to replace the one I already have.

Good luck with the RX - it does indeed look good.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Lol, hello mate, thought I'd let you break the news! Great to meet you guys to, don't think the doves sh*t on you! I know you'll love owning the zed, she's a beaut. It just occured to me that she doesnt' have a name other than 'RedZed' maybe you should christen her?

Hay mate, sorry the Zed had to go  least it's to someone who'll take care of it and love it as much as you do. :)

The REX is great mate welcome to the club, loved the Slippery Banana the first time I saw it (before you'd ever seen or heard of it) BTW was speaking to John at the REX met last night told him he owes me commission LOL.

Don't forget to have one last blast in the Zed before it finnaly leaves your place forever.

Oh if you make it to JAE you can take my Zed (Japonica) for a spin. If you take me for a spin in the Slippery Banana. :D You can also got out in our REX (Rixxie) and compare the two. :D

Haha, ok deal! I'm chuffed I'll have some cash to get the rex to some tracks now. I'm going to book some more days with John Lyon as well. I would have come to that meet last night but I had the Ben Harper concert in London. Its the second time I've missed a meet due to already booking things. I'm considering getting booked up for the Isle of Man meet now. It'd be awesome getting the rex around those roads!

Nature of performance cars eh Neil? Rodders has done well out of it as did I when I bought it as the previous couple of owners have spent 10-15k on it. Plus my rx7 has had double that put into it so I suppose I havn't lost anything in the long run. End of the day we're still paying around 5k for cars that were 40k so can't really complain!
