The dilema..... its either a 350Z or I throw 10k at the ZX. Cant make up my mind, or more to the point I keep changing it! I am on my 2nd Z and have had a TVR Chimeara and Lotus Esprit S4 inbetween and still think the Zx is best of them all.

Always wanted to go wide and splash out ou the ZX but i Just cant quite conveince myself to throw that klind of dosh at a 14yr old car. Its an import with only 45k on and is superb condition, not let me down in 2 1/2 yrs ownership and still puts a smile on my face.

Not expecting the most unbiased answers on this site !!! :)

Anyone got or had both?

You won't get the same level of personalisation with a 350z, I've been telling myself it's all about what I want as I spend more and more on the zed

Was in youor positon just over a year ago.

Spent my cash on teh Z after a test drive in a 350

Trust me, after teh Nurburgring this year I now know I mande the right choice.

Now the car handles better than a 350 and is still way faster.

IMHO zeds are not worth selling now, the cars just dont command a decent amount of cash. Im intending to keep the zed and just keep it as a second car.

What ever you do im sure you wont be disapointed the 350z looks an awesome car!

As much as i love my zx, a new 350 has to be the best option

I would go with a 350Z. I love the 300ZX but to be honest if you chuck 10K into the 300 you wont see any of the money back ever! If however you go for the 350 and it isnt too over priced when you buy then you have a good chance of getting most of your money back and then getting another 300ZX. I am looking at saving for a 350Z in the neari(sh) future.

thanks all.... may just hang on to the ZX. As geeky_hawkes says, they just dont have any value on sale and yet if you know them its such a good car for the money! Think maybe the option is to work my nuts off for the rest of the year and throw my bonus toward the 350 and keep the ZX. Haven't driven the 350 yet and with my 300 sat on Tein suspension with strut braces and being a TT I just wonder wether i will find the 350 a bit dissapointing.

Surely that's like having negative equity on a house, it's only an issue if you feel the need to sell? If you want to keep the toy then you will get your moneys worth?

Reasonable point but lets face it chucking money at any car is never an investment! I owned a TVR..... I should know! :smash:

Is it true that the AA and RAC are both major shareholders in TVR (Tow Vehicle Required)

It's not what the car is worth it is how happy you are with the car. The 350 does nothing for me, but the 300 is the car I love and always wanted. If i was to get another car it would not be a 350 , but sommat else.

My TVR never broke down... it just kind of disintegratred at leaisure

I think I sould plan on owning both and begin my collection of Z's !

so if not a 350Z what ?

Difficult choice with newer cars at the moment, I cant really say that any of the newer generation GT/sports cars interest me that much. If your going to spend a further 10k how about a Skyline R33 GTR Vspec. Awsome car in my opinion, although some may beg to differ.

Andy

ive chucked a fair few quid at mine,,,right move as the 300 lines are awesome base to work from,,,,if i had a 350 i would have to totally rebuild and reshape the outside,

a 300 looks how a sports car should

I agree with Jason in that the 300 has the looks of a 'real' sports car. I must admit though the more I read about different cars the more respect I've got for the 350Z. I'd like to drive one to see how it compares. Every respected magazine rates the 350z as one of the best handling sports cars around. I bought Evo mag today and it compares the 350Z with the latest Audi TT and the 350Z rates much better. I think people just focus on the fact that the 300 is more powerful (topgear race thing). Saying that though if you look in the 'knowledge' section at the back where it lists all the cars it says this about the 300zxTT:

'plus points: Best ever driver's nissan bar the skyline. minus points: not much'

Can't get much better than that eh?

350z just does'nt interest me in the slightest, its just not in the same league and was never designed to be. 10k spent on a zed definatly does interest me though :)

i love 300s but drive a 350,yes the 300 looks better,with a nice kit though

350z for tracks and general b road munching

300 looks and power, and lots of repair bills

Spot on. I must agree with you. Not to be an hypocrit but just to say 10K is a lot of money to put into a car. The investment would obviously be the enjoyment you would get from the car. But! personally I think the more logical way to go is put the money into the next Nissan sports car as it would seem that our cars may soon be a thing of the past. prices seem to be dropping very quickly which may or may not be a sign that they have had thier day. The 350 is the new, old sports car of the future I think? But I am no notstrodamus and as a 300ZX owner hope I am wrong?

I would love to be able to afford to sling 5 or 10K into the 300 and think I would come up with a car as lovely as Jasons or as powerful as Mac1's But like royal said the 350Z has some good reviews and I think it is a natural progression. not everyone on here will agree as it is a very different car.

Good luck with whatever you do buddy.

Buy the 350z. But with the price of the 300zx at present, I'd still keep it as a weekend car. Throwing £10k at at any 14 year old car worth £4k is (I know I'm going to get slated for this....) a complete waste. When you do sell it later, you'll still only get £4k or less.

I did think of buying a 350z last year after driving one. However when I got back in my 300 to drive home, I (personally) just didn't think it would give me £25k worth of driving pleasure over my ZX.

I decided to buy a 6 year old Merc SLK as a daily driver and keep the 300zx for proper driving.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

thats the problem isnt it! it doesnt make financial sense to throw £10k at a car that you wont get the return on.

but, spending out on a new car will loose you £££'s on depriciation anyway!

its all down to personal preference, spending out on a car to modify it in a way that I like is far more appealing to me than buying an "off the shelf" car.

if you like your zed & plan on keeping it long term then i say go for it! if not then spend on the 350

mind you they are now launching a 350 with a supercharged engine chucking out 380bhp for around £35k,,,news of the world today,,,room for thought,,,

i would never sell my 300 but that doesent say i wouldnt buy something else in a couple of years, and go a very different direction with it ,,a 350 would be one of the cars which would slot into that criteria

Personally, i have spent waaaaay more than £10k in the last couple of months on my Z, and i know im not gonna get anywhere near it back, but i dont care, its being built for the purpose i want it to be built for with the spec i want it. You could never buy a car with the excact spec you want for anywhere near the price of a 350.

I could never buy a new car and literally watch it depriciate as soon as i drive it off the forcourt, and then every mile i drive it.

Do the 300 bud, you know it makes sense!

I agree with you there Rich. There's just nothing whatsoever to warrant buying a new car and watching 3k depreciation as you leave the forecourt! I drove past a ford garage with the missus the other day and they had the Ford Ka in there for 12k or something stupid like that. Its amazing I was driving a 340rwhp zed for less than half the price of those ford heaps!
