As some of you know ive had some oil leak problems on my Z and as its 'sold' part of the deal was to get the leak sorted,so booked it into Nissan dealership as they could fit me in this week.

My sysmptoms where oil/fluid from bellhousing but i had a suspicion it was leaking from somewhere else as well.

Anyway it went in runing fine apart from the leak.

This is what invoice says

'Investigate oil leak from engine-traced to rear main oil seal-also from o/s turbo feed.repair to emlimnate oil leak.refit componments and TEST OK

OIl & Filter changed in repair

ATF fluid topped up

They Called today to pick up the car but it wasnt running right do to '02 sensor fault'

I presumed it was the o2 sensor that was crimped together rather than soldered and took the car.

On the way home it was reving all over the place with misfiring. When i got back checked o2 sensors where connected so called dealership to complain basicaly they fobbed me off saying that i took the car with the 'fault' so it wasnt their fault as they hadnt touched the o2 sensors!Anyway i discovered that one of the hard pipes was loose so air was going straight into the throttle body!!!reconected the pipe and reset ECU and seems to run fine with code 55 but something still isnt right about it.

also discoved one of my alarm wires ripped off the battery!

So took the car out and discovered after some dual-carigeway driving the damn thing still leaks AT fluid from bellhousing causing smoke off exhasut FFS!

i

Im not too bothered about the running fault as i ve 'fixed it myself' but im livid that theres still a leak.

I called up to complain about the leak and they foobed me off till Monday 'Theres no manager in at weekend' *****X I SAY!Even then i bet they will try charge me to investigate the AT fluid leak as surely this should have been noticed wwhen the gearbox was removed and refilled! And they appatently have 'TESTED' it-Well the couldnt have up to running temperature and pressure if theres still a leak otherwise they would have noticed it!

So basically ive still got a leak,im £820 lighter and i cant pick up my Supra on Sunday

Where can i go from here?

Somebody told me beings i paid on credit card i can claim money back for shoddy work?

im still going in tommorow to complain though!

One question can they charge me if the car still 'leaks' and has the same symptoms as before when they have alledgedly 'tested' it?Im not paying for the work to be done as im not paying that amount of labour charge for something should have been fixed when the gearbox was off!

Im so ANGRY i dont think i can sleep!

Sh*t mate, fecking main dealers are bloody useless on Zeds. And £820 for that!!

yeah stay away from main stealers with the zed they ****ed mine up good and proper!! only use a good well known speacialist who has good experieance with the zed or its gonna get costly as you know!!

If they havn't done what you paid them to do then get your money back. They have failed to do the job asked of them and still billed you for it.

:x: :x: £820 .. I would have sorted it if I knew you were gonna pay that much , if they have not sorted it then they either take the car back, give you a courtesy car and sort it FOC or you get a full refund, but they really are the last people you should let loose on a 300ZX, most of them have never seen one and are only use to working on Micras. Speak to your visa company as well as who ever is in charge at the garage, dont be fobbed off with the exscuse that no managers are in on Saturdays, someone has to be in charge and it is up to that person to sort it, its a case of spitting the dummy out at them and being a pain as they wont readily accept any responsibility.

i never take my car to the stealers, most of their technicians were still in nappies when the Zed came out!!

I would not pay any money.till the leak is sorted to your satisfaction or i would just keep hounding them and hounding them and i would go through the manager and the manager only do not deal with any one else. If they start getting clever then throw some legal jargon or trading standards at them

if it helPs I work for mazda technical the o2 sensor fault could of occurred ass u drove it home so I would not go down that route. take your invoice and ask to see the after sales manager and if u don't get shitty they will def look at the leak for no charge staying carm gets you further with the stealers

the only reason i went here is because they could fit me in this week and had to get it sorted this week and nobody else would touch it in my area!

if this doesnt get sorted to cause a scene! So might here about a Z owner going ape in a Nissan delership it will be me!

the o2 sensor fault im not bothered about as ive fixed that..one of the induction pipes was loose so its possible it could have been losse when i put it into NissanIts the leak thats still there is my problem.Surely if they had 'tested' it afterwards they would have noticed a leak stil present.I bet they just ran it on idle for 10mins but it never leaked on idle anyway just at 60-70mph when pressure was up and i told them that when i put it in!

Arrgghhh

Find out if they have a complaints procedure. They may be part of a group and you may be able to go higher than the manager with your grievence.

Yeah they are part of a multi dealership franchise (Fiat/Nissan etc)

If i get nowhere with the manager at Nissan (who so far have been reluctant to help sand not very understanding) i will go down headoffice and see someone down there.

£820??????????????????????????? Christ. Too late to say this now, but take it Zen Garage or something next time. I bet the guy that did the work on your car hasn't even seen a set of wheels nuts from a 300ZX let alone worked on one.

there wont be a next time that fookin car was supposed to be going this weekend to the new owner!

So basically ive lost a sale on it,£820 lighter, and im probably going to have back out of the Supra ive 'bought'

Everytime i go to sell the Z something goes wrong-i just think it doesnt want to leave me,or the damn thing is cursed!lol

call your credit card company, tell them in no uncertain terms how pissed off you are, explain how this looks like the sale is falling through and if you don't get the money refunded immediately you'll take action against them, including a claim for consequential loss if you end up selling the car cheaper - give me five mins I'll pull out a standard letter... (get payments pulled back a lot at work - surprisingly easy to do!!)

link to letter on here https://www.which.co.uk/reports_and_campaigns/money/campaigns/Banking%20and%20credit/consumer_credit/Credit_card_protection_campaign_article_559_77266.jsp

(this is the one I've had used against us at work several times and it seems to get a good response - just not for us if you see what I mean!!)

Oh, and ou're protected equally for services (i.e. not just faulty goods) - I knoiw that cos we only supply services!

Any advice or feedback greatly appreciated

Dude, you took it in for leak-the leaks still there!

They charged you a fecking fortune,it's down to them!!

UPDATE.....

went into Nissan yesterday to complain and they took the car round the block and then took the car in service bay...30mins later they report 'gearbox leaking'

So they say 'well we can do that for you no problem' i say 'good, hope thats not going to cost me' they reply 'We will have to charge you £380 labour to remove/put box back in and then you have got the gearbox repair as well' 'er no,you are going to do that for nowt' i reply 'you will have to see the Service manager to negotiate a price' they siad

I asked to see Service manager who is now 'away' til Monday!

So i left went down another group branch and got the number for the MD's etc to take it further and hopefully a quicker result

I aint gona let this rest!

Arggh

No surprise there then mate, threaten them with legal action and tell them you will take it to the papers, being nice to them just wont work, had similar problems with a Volvo dealership, I tried being nice and asking they just said you will have to pay for additional work, spitting the dummy out worked, just dont get abusive and threatening with them.

****ers... i had a similar problem with saab main dealers, they quoted me 750 to "fix" my gearbox problem, they fixed it, then discovered it was something else and not as diagnosed, tried to charge me another 2k.. lol.. as i hadnt taken the car i hadnt paid them, so i told them to put it back as it was and pi55 off, they KNEW they were in the wrong and agreed...

what i would suggest, and i KNOW this has worked for a mate of mine recently... when you go see someone, ask to see them IN THE SHOWROOM.. if they ask you to go in an office say NO, and discuss the problem in a loud voice so customers can hear you, preferably when theres lots of peiople around...

at the end of the day, you took it in to have a problem fixed, it clearly was NOT fixed, ergo they havent done the job you paid them to do, so i would stop the payment from ur card... ring the credit card company and stop it NOW.. or get them to retract it NOW...

your bill sed tested OK, it obviously hasnt been, and even if it HAD been im sure they will guarantee their work anyways...

good luck, if you were closer i'd come with ya mate... DO NOT PAY THEM OR AGREE TO PAY THEM ANYTHING ELSE...

I did discuss the problem in the showroom and deliberately talked a bit loudly than normal-funny thing was the guy before me had brought his 4x4 in to sort a ignition problem and they had taken the money for that and it was still problematic so he wasnt happy either.

You could see people nervously handing over their keys at the service desk while trying to overhear what i was saying lol
