Windscreen fitting plonkers

Just had my windscreen replaced on the insurance, by some A1 spanner, he's torn and not replaced the bottom rubber, left two dents in the panel above the screen, and the fit between the glass and and the pillars on the interior is filled with some sponge rubber.

Did you pay the excess???

But anyway get them back, and complain about the damage and fit.

Yes mate I paid the excess and noticed the damage after, have complained but say I have to take the car to them for an inspection! Bloody cheek!

i had silver shield fit a new windscreen to mine after Hairsy's TVR threw a stone at me on the way to le mans last year, and the guy did a terrible job.

way too much sealant, and then it leaked during some heavy rain...

they backfilled with more sealant !!

then, autoglass fitted another one after my car got vandalised last year too, and the job was a whole lot better.

get this, when he removed the old screen, it hadn't even stuck down... the sealant was shite

yet another trade with too many cowboys

Actually it was Silver Shield as well that did a shitty job on mine!

yes it was mate, whereabouts in south/west london are you

I always use autoglass (working in nottingham used to call for this alot) and they always did a cracking job on whatever window it was.

Craig,

not too far away mate, Putney to be exact, and yes I am going to Brum tomorrow, you recognise me by the fact that I'll be driving the saddest Z there, due to vandal damage!

anyone going from london want to meet on the way ?

the easiest place i think would be the first services you find on the m40 after the m25 junction.

dont know where they are, but as good a plcae as any wink.gif

as i dont know where they are, i cant say what time we should leave there either....

07885 852047 if you want to try and get together in the morning

Hi Mark, Craig,

if the AA is to be believed, the first service out of London on the M40 is at Junction 8a which is Oxford-ish.

This is 65 AA miles from Solihull so allow 1 legal hour to get from there to the Boat.

Coffee at 10.30 ish??
