im thinking of getting my suspension sorted, i was all set to get the KYB AGX/eibach combo, but im now thinking of getting some TEIN hieght adjustable shocks and springs.

what i want to know is.

1) how much does the KYB/eibach combo lower the car

2) how much hassle are hieght adjustable shocks, ie: taking the wheels off measuring the hieght of each spring etc.

3) anyone recommend any of the above or tell me if there crap or recomend any other suspension.

cheers

si

tein flex is my choice, superb quality, 16 way adjustable and ride height adjustable.

By the time you have bought some other shocks and springs etc you might as well spend a few extra hundred quid and go for coilovers bud

Bazza as selling his brand spanking setup including EDFC which is cool but even if you didnt want EDFC you coul always sell it on for £300 ish ;)

Mike

oh and changing the height is pretty easy, just measure how far up or down you want and alter the coils to match!! job done

The Eibachs will lower the car by 0.8" IIRC. Very good combined with the KYBs and a very cost effective mod IMO

got the tein setup on mine quite straight forward to do,but you will need to get it set up properly, very harsh ride though.

heard very good reports about kyb and for the money can't be knocked

Just about to put KYB AGX's and eibach's on mine this weekend so will let you know :D

which tein set up have you got mate, and does it alter the tracking when you adjust the ride hieght.

got the tein type flex, not sure about the tracking but it's recommended that you fit adjustable camber arms if your changing ride height

so does that mean ill have to adjust the camber arms every time i higher or lower the car with the hieght adjustable shocks

I think the idea is to adjust the ride height until your happy and then get the camber sorted. If you go for eibach springs the height you get is it. With coilovers you can adjust to suit but it isnt going to be something you adjust everyday

Ive got tein flex fitted v good set up with cusco rear upper adjustable camber arms .Still need to fit front upper camber arms.If you go silly low camber will go out a fair way if you only drop a bit camber should be not far out.

I've the D2 Racing and they are really good for track but really unconfortable for every day :(

Also they are easy to set up but even in soft they are still hard.

Go for some adjustable coilovers, TEIN are a good choice.

It is a piece of cake to adjust to them, once you know what you're doing you can do it under 5 minutes per corner. I need to sort my camber too, but like Taff has said the cambe wont be too bad unless you drop it to within an inch of it's life.

Handling is sooo much better than stock. You'll love it...

Full coilovers are great...especially for the track...but the spring rates do tend to be very high and the needs for all that adjustablity is seldom required if you dont take it on the track much.

Also have to consider the £1k+ price tag for the Teins

The KYB and Eibachs or Koni and Eibachs is a great alternative. Less than half the price, damping adjustable and a massive improvement over stock....but with progressive front springs and lower rates they are also better suited for the road.

i have the KYB AGX and Eibach combination...

250 for the shocks (including import tax) and about 150 for the springs from Luke at ZCentre if i remember right...

fitting a doddle, adjustment is very good, on the second to softest setting the ride is just as i like it..

i also got the adjustable rose jointed tension arms at the same time from Luke and these have also made a difference.....

they drop the car by about 20mm as cybernet rightly said.. this is more then enouugh IMO as i now struggle on some of the higher speed bumps..

all the best..

Tony

Full coilover kits from the likes of Tein, Megan, Buddyclub etc can be got for quite a good price, or you could go used and have a look on ebay. Though 300zx coilovers dont appear that often, R32 Skyline ones do - and they are a direct fit :-)

thanks for the advice guys, gonna have to see what the best prices are and decide if the hieght adjustables are worth the the extra £s.

thanks again

si

can you lower yours any more? youll never get over the speedbumps at the pyewipe for my birthday!

  • Author

hasnt been lowered at all! will have to take some planks of wood and make a see-saw, if you go to the piewipe the day before your birthday stuff some planks in the field......or ill take a sledge hammer, and sort the speed bump once and for all!!

just hit them at 80mph and hope for the best

Just following on from this. I took a nice chunk out of my front end this morning as I pulled onto my bosses driveway.

That's just what you want at 7am, a loud crunching noise. it puts you in the mood for a great day. LOL

But seriously Si go for the adjustables. You know you want to...
