yeah, that sounds about right! better get used to it!

Too a £50 tank I get 500km if I take it easy in my NA

Yep, sounds about normal. On motorways I get about 300miles to a £60 tank. Around town I get about 200 miles.

I am now happy I never brought a TT

Well i know mine isnt running ight at the moment as i am getting less than 50 miles on 3 gallon

dont get me wrong - always had a heavy foot and a deep wallet - but just recently it seems to have got worse - dont know if its the weather :)

I need to blame something :D

pretty much exactly the same as mine

I prefer to think of it as FPG - fun per gallon!! :D

Yup same here

Er yeah, that sounds about right actually. TTs are absolutely appalling for fuel around town. Cheaper to buy a second car tbh, as long is it's a £200 shunter or something.

I think the Zed is pretty decent on a long run. On my recent trip to France, I think I spent about £80 on fuel and that took me from Glastonbury to Portsmouth (100miles), LeHavre to just north of LeMans(100 miles) and then back again (another 200miles). Plus another 50 or so miles pottering around. I was driving like an 85 year old for most of it though, but still, good MPG can be achieved.

does cruise control chow the petrol as well?

  • Author

yeah, I've always just paid for it without thinking but only recently have I decided to reset clock to check mpg.

Sorta wish I hadnt now :D

does cruise control chow the petrol as well?

If you set it to 140, then yeah sure!

;)

i bought a fiesta to drive to work after 3 weeks of spending 90 quid a week on fuel, now can do a whole week on 20 quid! Also means i can take my time with the z instead of rushing jobs.

I bought a 550bhp rx7 to make the zed petrol economy look cheap and good value. Now I get to drive a zed to work and its cheap(er) on my wallet lol!

LOL!! i had a Shitron Paxo for a year to save on fuel, couldnt fookin stand it any more!!! back with the Zed as a daily drive again now

Im gonna fit a diesel lump in my zed so I can get looks and economy LOL

LOL, i'm off to france with eurotunnel tomorrow. one of the questions was

'has your vehicle been converted to lpg'

Now there's a thought :)

yep the figures sound about right.do an ECU check just to make sure its not in safety boost or anything stupid like that cos that makes a huge difference!

i found cruise control to be terrible for MPG, it tried too hard to maintain the speed and i found it accellerating way harder than i would to keep a cruise. if you watch the vacuum gauge youl see what i mean. the smallest hill and it almost floors it and then backs off. hardly the best way to drive when ur trying to drive economically.

the bottom line is, these cars are heavy and 300hp with two turbos, if u need petrol u put petrol in it. if thats not your cup of tea then buy a 306Tdi.

  • 1 year later...

Only having had my Zed for 2 days I can say this.

266 miles for £60 of 99 RON at £1.01 per litre. That equates to 13.01 gallons which means I got a 20 mpg return.

The car has a slight sooty zorst and I suspectan 02 sensor is failing a tad.

It runs like a watch and performs like nothing I've driven before.

Here's the thing.

My Skoda Octavia cost 16500 new 5 years ago. It's worth about 4,800 now. That's a depreciation of 2380 per year.

My Zed cost an amazingly low by comparison price and is unlikely to drop in value as it's stunning, so..................

If I look at 7k miles per year in the Zed that's about £1550 on fuel. Which means when you balance the mpg of the Zed against the depreciation of the Skoda it seems as if you might be up on the deal!

It's just another way of looking at costs. Bottom line is there is a price to pay for having a car that looks, sounds and goes like a super car. The price seems to be petrol.

The reason we quibble petrol is due to the thieving government who rakes about 70% tax on fuel that would otherwise cost you 40p per litre.

You know who to blame - it's a pity the UK driving (voting) public have no clue as to how appropriate action should be taken to reverse the fuel escalator tax. It's criminal and we all know it.

Still it's a warm feeling seeing all the Zed owners paying their weekly tax bills regularly at the pumps and in turn funding the Social Services Departments.............
