Sometimes, that could do more harm than good. You know the attitudes of kids nowadays.

I hate kids and never want any of my own.

they're not all bad - the younger ones near me tend to hang around when i've got the bonnet up cos they know I'll probably start it up and rev it a bit before long!! Funniest thing I heard was "cooooooool exhaust - I could fit my head up that"!! made me chuckle!

Even the chav with a corsa next door came round for a nose when I was doin the cambelt! Think he was pretty gobsmacked that any car could possible have that much stuff crammed under the bonnet - guess he's used be being able to look down and see the floor in his!

you have to be carfull that sort of thing can leed to paint stripper on your car or worse nicked.

"you hate kids and never want any of your own" and your still finding it hard to find and enter a warm loving relatinship with a unfettled young lass

Poor lads they were proberly just admiring it. I'm starting to get the same from the young lads and lasses around mine I just smile and talk nicely with them and that appears to keep them from touching.

so cos they said "its a nissan i think"

they are scum, im surprised with your attitude they don't come back with some REAL scum

you have either got a bad chip, or explained yourself really badly

nah the mans right, you have to be so careful these days with anything you value as there is always someone who is desperate to take it away, i will not even park my Z anywhere at night because of all the bloody youths, its just a ashame we can not reprimand the without fear of a backlash and damage. its society today, no discipline, when i was a nipper if anyone had given me a scarborough warning i would have run off crying!!

I hate kids and never want any of my own.

Want mine then????  They're house trained and don't eat too much  ;)

All the kids by me love the zeds and wave and smile at every bloody one that comes and goes LOL

Si im sure your gonna die rich and lonely LOL

Surely just cos they were having a look it doesnt make them scum! I know there are kids out there like that but some of them are good and just interested in cars!

If my boy walked past, he would have a good nose as he is car mad. Does that make him scum?

how old were these "lads" and what were they doing down an alley smoking??? i mean wre they young boys or teenagers?

Difficult.

I try and acknowledge anyone paying my car attenion but in a really friendly way. Then they know you've clocked them and there's no threat to them. Plus you can kind of tell from their response if they have bad intentions.

When I got my car I was nervous leaving it in rough neighbourhoods. I have mates in Sneinton in Nottingham and Long Sight in Manchester and I stoped visiting them. Now I just go and risk it. If the car gets damaged, it gets damaged - I don't want it dictating my life. It's just a car. Maybe the Mrs's Seat would cost as much to get repainted if it got keyed? I don't know.

But I do worry about it sometimes!

TOO true, years ago we had coppers on the beat, with push bikes, that seemed to know everyones business, you could chat to them (respect em) as friends and tell them about potential dick heads in your area, and they would keep an eye on things.

If you have a go at them lads, or worse hit em,, they are likely to come back at a later day and brick your windows.

The safe way is to get a buddy that dont live (unknown) in your area to come along and kick the shit out of em. If they give you a problem.

Maybe they just like your car, and were just, lads being lads,, but you cant take chances, a lot of kids just aint got no respect today :headvswal

lol...

honestly..boys smoking..death penalty init :headvswal

Some are harmless and some arnt....more beer monsters.

Living in an area full of both and having witnessed many incidents with the result of them being carted away or setting fire to something if theres one thing I can say its that for some reason whether beer monster or druggie they seem to have a different level of respect for the Zed :wack:

Ive owned various BMWs (Mspec) and Mercedes/AMG cosworths and they've all been vandalised in one way or another (infact attempted theft on the Merk Cossie).

The Zed...well.... they just tell there mates and they all start drooling and going "yer man" lol

Fookin' "A". I read it twice to see why they were scum? I have youngsters all the time eyeballing my car and sometimes saying things like that. I wouldnt call them chavvy scum for that. Infact I am very proud when young blokes think my car is nice. Just like Billynomates says. Dont be supprised if you, yourself could have caused exactly what you feared in the first place. :x:

I know where you're coming from bud. I hate it when I have to park my car somewhere I dont know. You cant trust anybody these days! Bloody chavs!

disagree bud, I think that does more harm than good.

When I was a wee nipper I used to admire cars with me mates, walk round, look in etc.

sometimes blokes used to come out and tell us about them etc. one lad even let us in his ford RS200 (just to sit in) :)

I always approach younger lads now in a friendly manner - keeps your car safer and they know you now/seen them.

On the estate I live, nearly all the young lads wave as I pass - Good thing - it means hopefully they might respect me/mine.

Personally I think giving bad banter can cause problems - you give someone with a chip on their shoulder more reason to steal/damage your car.

Be nice first - IF they damage your car then be real nasty.

Here, here I second that  It appears to be working for our REX and my ZED at present. I just have to go out onto the driveway now to wash N wax them and next thing I know I have a nice little group of lads and lasses watching, even asking questions, and saying how nice they think they are.

Funny thing is I even over heard the new local chav boys urging each other on to ask me to take them out in my Zed. They appear a little shy in coming forward yet as I beat them off the line in my Rover a the other week. LOL

ya never know, treat em with a little respect and they will probably be spot on, even to the point of protecting your car from other lads...

be nice and friendly, smile and tell em what they want to know if they ask any questions about the car.. even take em for a spin in it if they are over 16...

if they know you are a decent person they are far less likely to do owt to your car, trust me, i know... if you come across as an arrogant twat no-one likes this, not even chavs..

my car got keyed on saturday at mcds, broad daylight and i was sat 3 yards away from it, so its VERY easy to do i'm afraid.. typical it'd just been resprayed, but there ya go, it'll be fixed this week, luckily i have a mate who'll do it free for me...

all the best, not all these lads are bad guys, remember that, and just coz they wear a baseball cap doesnt make them public enemy number one..

T

lol...

...

And whats wrong with Beermonster?? I know he doesn't come on here anymore, but he was a nice guy :D

Anyway , back to the thread ;)

I parked Eliza in Fosse Park ASDA (Leicester) the other week, and as I was approaching her on my return, I noticed a guy on his mobile stood near her. Nothing wrong in that I thought, he's probably just admiring her. But as I came up to her I could tell he was talking about her to whoever it was on the other end, then he noticed me and instantly backed away from her. anyway we loaded the shopping into the boot and this guy got into his car and drove off. Now it could have been totally innocent and a coincidence, but why just walk away, didn't acknowledge me or even say a word, just seemed a little odd at the time.

Anyway Eliza is still in my possession and all safe 'n sound :D

personal experience on this, i live in a fairly decent neighbourhood compared to some of the places around here, and my cars very well known, most of the time if Im out, someone from "scumville" will wave, or recognise it, ive always been nice and polite to anyone whos been near it and showing it any admiration and when im working on it, most of the time theres a member of "scumville" near and wanting to chat blah blah.

about 2 months ago some ******* put a brick through the front window of it and did some other bits of damage, i asked the nearest "scum" if they knew or saw anything..within 2 hours of getting up the next day after it happened I knew who did it, had an address and a phone number :)

innocent til proven guilty

*sigh* here we go again... :wack:

i like cars, i talk about cars, i smoke... ( ) and i 'sometimes' walk in alley ways... oh and when the sun is shining, i might wear a cap!

OMG i'm Chavvyscum! HELP!

I reckon if u show respect, u'll in turn get respect from at least 70% of the people in this world (i think anyway...) :smw:
