OK, here we go. Anyone on here removed an injector the Dremmel way, i.e. ground the plenum away to get at the screw under it. Have read the Aussie report on this and not really convinced. Perhaps I should remove plenum and do a bypass at the same time, unless of course someone knows better.

Dremel way is crap (IMHO)..it's usually hard to get injectors out of the rail (even if you have the fuelrail out completely) and when using the dremel way you have to destroy the injector for the most part to get it out. (too bad if the injector turned out to be fine)

Plenum removal may be a little bit more work, but at least you can do it proper and get rid of the waterhoses under the plenum, replace the fuelrail o-rings, replace the small fuel hose connecting the 2 rails together, clean injector connectors and replace the sealant/gasket on the exhaust rocker covers.

I reckon that the only injector you have a hope in hell of removing without the plenum is number one. Otherwise it's a full plenum off job like Eric says.

I think so as well. Once the plenum is off I can also do the top end bypass and other 'suspect' piping. Another dilema is do I replace all the injectors or just the one thats gone faulty. The car has only done 40K miles but is of course 12 years old. The way the injector stopped working was also odd. Drove the car all day no problems, the next day it started with a misfire. The damn Gremlins got in overnight.

Since the car only has 40K miles on it, it may be conceivable that either it is an electrical problem (ie at the connector) that's causing the problem or the faulty injector has gotten clogged. If you are going to be taking the injector out by removing the plenum it may be adviseable to take all the injectors to be professionally cleaned. They can then also be bench tested which will show whether they are still in top condition or require replacing. This is something I will be getting done in the not too distant future.

I'd go along with Danny on this one and furthur more I'd say if your going to remove the plenum Which i think your going to have to (it's not so bad a job just time consuming) then your disturbing a 12 year old very brittle wiring loom which will almost certainly break up as you bend it.

A new loom from Ztech is well worth the £300 ish ist costs and is more durable than the original. Believe me it saves a mint in the long run.

small tip to prevent this as much as possible:

spray lots of WD40 on the loom + connectors a few days before starting the removal.

Heating things up with a heat gun/hair dryer helps quite a bit also.

I have checked all the connectors and their outputs, and all is OK. I put 9V across the suspect injector terminal and nothing. All the good ones clicked well. Why do these things always happen in the summer when you want to drive it with the tops off. I keep threatening to buy a 350Z, mainly for reliability, but I would need some tuning done to move it along a bit better.
