Can Anyone remember a while back there was talk of removing the Plenium and making one central to the engine with just one Throttle Body???

There was pics and can't remember what the subject was to do a search.

I really really need those pics if anyone could remember that would be geat.

Really, i'm interested. How much are we looking at?

For the big single?

Somone correct me if i'm wrong, you will only get little gains but the standerd Plenum will restrict you anything after 600bhp.

It's just better engineering and looks sweet also is totally different.

Sounds about right as its not going to allow any extra air into the engine really but deffinatly different and looks really cool

i think 600 is a little low, i think the oem plenum is still good for 700-800 with larger throttles but yeh if your looking at 800+ then your going to struggle

i prefer twin setup and think it will work better than a single setup

also heres a pic of what macs looking at

Also i would imagine the first one woould be more cost friendly and easier to set up.

thats the one i would go for ;)

mmmmm independent throttle bodies!!

I had them on an Astra GTE 16v i had many moons ago, added almost 50bhp! plus they sounded AWESOME! Like a dragon roaring in a cave :)

Maybe this one?

This is the Jun/Blitz plenum used in their record breaking bonneville car from way back when..........Makes today's skyline based top speed machines look like what they are (lots of power with aerodynamics of a brick!)

Jun will still build you a complete VG30DETT 'full tune' if you have the readies. When I looked at this it would be cheaper to have them buy and engine at jap auction fully prepare it and send it over in a crate for you to fit lock-stock-and barrel. Not sure if it included this special plenum though.......

Chris

fully prepare engine by JUN!! You are looking at aroung 15-20k without the tubs

Actually around 10k and that is with them sourcing the engine.............

They have some stuff lying around for VG30dett so it would clear their shelves too. remember 300zx is considered a dead car in japan age wise so you can find new old stock stuff all over the place.

it depends on the work, if u want work on heads, plenum, extrude honed... then is much more

they dont have any parts lying around they do more sales overseas than local

JUN offer 2 "menus" (stages) for both cylinder heads and cylinder block

Also Tomei and Escort offer complete build engines in several stages:

Worth bearing in mind that if you start changing the length of the runners you're going to alter the torque / power characteristics of your engine completely. Something like the JUN single may be OK on a balls out big power car but you will loose lots of bottom end due to the short runners.

Also, lots of these things are just made to fit the available space with no thought to fluid flow etc. Amazing how many people that make them know nothing about fluid dynamics. For example how many of these manifolds have internal trumpets? Not many I'd bet looking at the size of them.

Amen to that john.

Thats why some high tuners also stick with stock airboxes in some cars!

e.g.

Mines RB26 'response tune' is a classic example 600hp with stock airbox but bags of torque
