my front right brake has started leaking fluid! had the wheel off and can see its coming from where the brake pipe meets the caliper, the screw that holds it in looks like its been cross threaded, my mate suggested getting a new brake pipe but im wondering if thatll make any difference? not sure why its suddenly decided to start leaking now, i have considered just melting metal round it, emetal or whatever its called i know someone who could do that. any thoughts?

need to get it sorted soon as its leaking brake fluid onto the discs :( which is a bit dodgy, and its splattered on the paint on the arches and stained it. j

Dont wanna get fluid on the pads either. Not good for them.

Persoannly Id sort it properly. If its crossthreaded, the thread in the caliper might be fooked too. May have to replace pipe and caliper. But Id rather do that and know I have no leaks, than bodge it up and loose brakes at the one time your'll really need it!

wash off the fluid on the paintwork too - over time it'll remove the paint.

I removed all my mates heavy duty paint from his garage floor by dripping fluid on it!! Its pretty corrosive stuff. I'd take the brake calipers off and have a proper look as it could be dangerous. Its a pretty easy job to get the caliper off. Alternatively you get get it on a ramp/over a pit at work and have a look?

If its been cross threaded it was probably when the calipers were replaced. The screws on the calipers are a bit of a nightmare to undo when you change them. Maybe due to the heat that they get put under, tends to weld them shut? It would be a good time to replace them with braided stainless hoses.

if its cross-threaded then at least one thread will have been damaged, whether it be on the pipe fitting or on the caliper

considering the fitting is steel and if u have alloy calipers u prob need a caliper now, if it was me id re tap it 1/4npt and make a new fitting up for the hose before i got a new caliper.

dont do sticking or filling, esp with epoxy metals, itl not work and its certainly not a good idea on a 300hp supercar.

take it off and see the damage before u go deciding the next course of action.

no thats the usually the reaction between the aluminium and the steel bolts. if the aluminium was melting......god help us all!!

Ah right. Didn't mean welding literally! just that mine was a nightmare to undo as well and Jack has got the same mod to GTR brakes.

aye i was joking about. but yes the dissimelar metals react and corrode where the touch, roadsalt is a bute for helping the ions transfer causing the corrosion, so remember.LOADS of copper or moly grease

Mate ive got a tub of nissan brake fitting ends and a flareing tool and pipe if you need to make a new pipe give me a shout taff.
