Ok folks, purchased some AZEV A alloys which have a softline matt finish. Am I able to send them somewhere to have them polished like the Plenums to get a sparkle mirror finish ?

Thus, firstly is this at all possible from matt to mirror finish and secondly can anyome recommend some where to have them done in the London / Middlesex / Hertfordshire area. Any idea how much it would cost with downtime etc.

Thanks.

If the alloys is of good quality then yes, you'll be able to get a mirror effect finish. Azev are pretty good rims, so would imagine it would be possible.

A lot of the top quality wheels like Rays/Volk, Advan and some BBS rims use aircraft grade alloy, which is almost as pure as you can get and these are the materials that respond best to polishing.

These are the rims I got for my Zed. As you can see, they've been badly curbed/lost their shine.

I got mine done by a chap up in Nottingham. Bit of a trek for me, but well worth it and he's very reasonable too.

Did you get the actual spokes in the middle polished as well ? My AZEVs have star spokes in matt finish so would also like them polished up with the lip as well, thus do you think this would be possible ?

Thanks bud..

No, the centres were done in a very high power silver. They do glow. Due to the mesh design on mine, it would have cost a fortune to get them polished. I considered it though.

If yours are a 5 spoke then it'll be a lot cheaper. Because yours aren't split rims either, I'd imagine that it wouldn't cost more than about £80 - £100 per wheel at the very max.
