Right here's one for all you Santa Pod freaks, in preperation for the JTuner thrash:

What are the best ways to launch and should I do anything with the car eg tyre pressure etc?

I've never done a proper standing still lauch before. I tried a couple the other day on a quiet stretch of private (!) carriageway and although it felt great and fast I was wheel spinning in the first three gears so it was probably a poor time. What is the technique? is it best to go easy at the beginning or what??

Ps - felt bloody awesome though!

Pm coming your way on techniquie. I've read it all up ready for my turn on the drag strip and Hubbie has tried it but the fool forgot half the stuff. MEN

20psi in the tyres for standing quarters

I'd leave them standard if they time top speed on the same run though - you don't want to be doing mega speeds with under inflated tyres.

A burn out helps warm them before hand which'll make a difference too.

post it please, let the rest of us in on any secrets!

You'll have to pay and it's a high price cos I intend to race the lot of you and I keeping me secrets :D :D :D

Ive been trying to tackle this recently, only had the Z for 2 months or so and its a far cry from the almera gti i had before it. But iv found that launching at 3500rpm and letting the clutch out fast (not side stepping it though) with about half throttle, then feed the throttle in quiet quickly and try keep it on the verge of wheelspin. then obviously watch the rev counter and change at 6500 ish (there might be a better shift point though).

Ive tried launching at higher rpm but it just leaves number 11's every where.

These are my results using the above techniques, ish.

i know it was a french car show (dont ask) but it was like being a god among insects.

hope this helps
