HELP

Have just had my car down for the MOT and was told it was pointless to go through with the test because of my co2 emissions. The readings have to be no more than .30, and my car is reading 6.95  on the left and 7.1  on the right.

So if there is anyone locally who would be willing to come over at such short notice and help to turn down the the fuel ratio and replace an O2 sensor (PS I dont have all the tools needed for this job) and get the emissions to a passable level then a big thanks and a pack of :duffer: could be easily sorted for you.

Car really needs to get through mot.If can get car done garage said they will squeeze it in sat morning.

Its really pxxxxxxg me off not having my car on the road. Its becoming like a cardinal sin

If anyone could be available you can contact me on 07795 152192. Thanks

Don't know if it would help in this case but there's a 'fix' you can do to reduce the levels, I think its just unplugging a small pipe and it reduces the level considerably :wack: Try a search, I'm sure I remember reading it ages ago.

Will have a look cheers. If anyone know which pipe it is then any help would be gratefull.

Well, I look on the forum most days and see how good it is, people going round to help a fellow zedder. So I ask you, why is it you get hardly any replies when you are trying to get a zed running right yet everyone will reply till the cows come home on a topic that has nothing to do with a zed.

Its pure madness. Well fook it I'm off to go break another knuckle and do it on my own.

Thanks.

Rant over

found this info hope it helps

Take the pipe off the fuel pressure reglator that fixes the CO then put it back on once out the MOT station.. Plug the pipe so it doesn't hiss or the muppet MOT bloke will notice yer at it.

just take the small one off the balance bar, infront of the brake servo

just to add to this, obviously if it does work it will only cover the problem up, will be a good idea to get whatever has caused the emissions to go that high sorted, start by looking at the o2 sensors and ECU temp sender etc, would pop round with my conzult but its a bit far, your welcome to drive down here tho.

that trick would only work on a car thats sitting at idle for the old style emissions test (3.5% co and 1200 ppm h/c) more importantly what age is your z if its before 95 then its old style test after 95 new style bet/cat test (0.30% co and 200 ppm h/c at 2500/3000 rpm) make sure their testing it to right emissions standard.

So even if he hears the hissing as long as the emissions are down it cant be a failure???

Pleeeeaaassseee say yes . Car is in for MOT tommorrow morning. So still time for someone to show me how to get the o2 sensor changed in morning if anyone would be so kind to turn up early enough

If I dont get it through the MOT by end of next week I think it will be time to get rid. A waste of a car sat on drive doing nothing in this weather.

thats right mate he,s not alowed to do any work on the car during the mot so he,s not allowed to reconnect it. lambda,s a bit awkward need to take battery out for pass side one and unbolt bmc for drivers one dont undo brake pipes just the 2 13mm nuts and gently p[ull it forward and up gives you a bit more room to get to lambda . lambda should be 22mm spanner, undo plugs at top of engine at the back first then undo sensor, will probably be bloody tight but once loosened shoulkd screw out by hand.

Thankyou. Will have another go in the morning(when my hand returns the feeling to my fingers). Haven't got a crow foot to remove it with but have borrowed a special type of socket for the job. Only problem is once socket is in place I can't get to it because of all the wires above it.

Will be getting up very early to see what I can achieve. WHO'S COMING TO LAUGH AT MY EXPENSE.

Well I still cant get the bleeder to move so if any traders who can do this can pm me with a price for removing it and fitting the new one (which i already have) then feel free to.

there is a risk that the threads will strip in the inserts if there really tight. might be worth getting these 1st as they are only cheap to prevent it being off the road if they do strip
