Yep, youve guessed it, its another "shall i break her" thread.

After spending 8 months of weekends and evenings when the weather holds out, and slowly getting myself deeper and deeper into debt, i seriously have to consider if the project was more than i could cope with.

It was a mammoth task for someone with my limited knowledge of anything, but my dream of a track ready zed was too much, and iv put everything into it.

I really cannot see the end of the tunnel now and am considering breaking whats left of the car.

I have all the tools and space to do it, but its sooo hard to admit defeat!

Current state of affairs is that the interior is stripped, and the engine is down to the bare block, ready to be rebored when i finally get my finger out and sort some new pistons and rods.

Am i passed a point where not even the parts are worth a ****???

Will the cost of building the car outweigh the loss in value of the parts?

Mate the best things in life are worth waiting for, and worth doing properly. If it was easy to have an amazing project car - then we would all have one..

But just look at the amazing cars in the rides section and ask the owner if they felt like giving up, or if the project was too much or too expensive. I bet all of them would say yes - but ask them if now the project is over was it worth the blood sweat and tears? I know all will say yes.

Only you know how your zed will turn out... just make sure you go along the same road as the other top zeds... and finish her.

Can I get down off my soap box now before I fall?

lol

Why don’t you fit the bits that you’ve bought, and lower the spec for the engine rebuild to keep the costs down and get it back on the road? You can always add more to it in the future.

mowgs .. keep going bud .. it took me 6 years to complete my V8 sit up n beg ford pop .. it realy is worth the wait .. esp if your doing the majority of the work yourself

Have seriously had same thoughts recently to the point of possibly going out and just going straight 6 Skyline, But the ZX was always a car I felt passionately about, and the whole point was because of its rarety and possibilities...Yes along with that comes the problems, This weekend will see the Engine out for the second time in a month. :(

But I only had to explore the alternative cars, see that not much really compares in terms of looks and performance for the money...

Keep going, Good things come to those who wait :D ;)

Mowgs me old fruit.

To do what you have already done is the hard bit, if you have to have a break from it then do so, I expected i could afford to get my Z finished for JAE this year, but there is a absolutely no way thats gonna happen due to funds.

Stick with it bud, its a pisser i know, but it'll be worth it in the end :)

Mine's be off the road getting on for 2 years  All i've been doing is the timing belt and fitting some gauges.

^advertisment for why you shouldn't smoke weed^

Don't know you're personal situation, but i'd say keep it and finnish it, as Chunk says "it'll be worth it"

At the end of the day though only you can anwser the question :)

Stick with it mate, it will be worth it in the end and you'll get sod all cash for it at the mo.

I've been through hell with my car and it's been off the road for about 3 years of the 6 i've owned it LOL but it's now running well and just needs a few details sorting.

It's well worth it when you get a car like this sorted and once it's done and paid for you'll have a very flash performance car that costs you very little in the long run.

A guy made me an offer for it the other day starting at £10K and was prepared to pay more but I wasn't interested. (I've spent maybe £25K on it but I'd never expect that back)

After the time and effort I've put in I won't sell it for anything at the mo.

Stick with it Keith - you'll kick yourself and have huuuge regrets if you break her bud :(

Cheers for all the comments guys - after a loooooong heart to heart with the car i am going to have to break her. Its not a decision iv made lightly, but at the moment the time just isnt right.

I will have another zed - it will probably be about 3 years away though, and when i do, ill be back!!! It will be when i have the time and money and a reliable alternative means of transport (im using a mountain bike at the mo!)

I shall be posting various bits for sale soon, id love to sell her as a whole to someone who wants to take the project on, but i cant see anyone wanting her in that state, and unfortunately shes currently worth more in bits!
