Hi, I found this place through an advert on Pistonheads. I'm looking around for a replacement for my 2 Vento VR6s (don't ask why I had 2!) I've seen adverts for 300ZXs ranging from £1.5 upwards. I'm guessing cars that cheap are going to be sheds! I have just over £3k to spend. Can I hope to find a good one for that or am I wasting my time?

If I was to get one I would want a manual and ideally a UK car.

All help/advice appreciated!

£3K is at the bottom of the pile for reasonable ones. You'd most likely get a very very clean N/A or auto TT for that price.

I'm assuming the N/A cars are imports?

hi mate. if you can manage to get £4k together you could get a reasonable manual TT. have a look in the Cars For Sale section of this club.

Yup, most are imports in general. All N/A, SWB and cabrio versions were imports.

Personally, you are probably better off getting an import. There are some nice UK spec ones about, but so many are scabby/rusty with high mileage.

Imports tend to be lower mileage, available in more colours and the bodies tend to be a in far better condition.

Hi mate, I bought my very clean N/A (import) for £2.5 but i've still spent another £1000+ in 6 months, it's just the nature of these cars.

Also bear in mind that insurance for imports (even the non turbos) can be alot more (about 50% for me) than UK cars.

I don't want to put you off, I have no regrets at all, but if you are on a budget, like me, you may have to make a 'few' sacrifices to run your zed properly. :)

I've never gotten round this myth about import insurance. I'm paying £500 a year fully comp on my JDM TT manual. I'm 27, it's unlimited mileage AND I have 6 points. Can't imagine it would be any cheap for a UK spec.

Ok

there are bargains out there you just have to look and haggle

Mine cost £2900, add into that the full service cost and cambelts and water pump that I had fitted at the time plus central locking and a years tax from the garage I got it from and in total it came to £3600

FunkySi, 'nother newbie here. Picking up my '94 n/a ZX on Friday. I'm 47, clean licence, full NCB, 3000 miles limited. Cheapest quote I can find is £536!!! Who are you with please?

That sounds a bit high.

Try Bell Direct or Adrian Flux.

insurance quotes vary with where you live, garaged or street parking etc

so what one person gets doesnt mean somebody else will get

That sounds very steep, i'm with Adrian Flux too, i'm 29 with full no claims and i pay £510 fully comp with £250 excess 10000miles on a UK TT parked on the drive.

Baz

Yes I realise that, but 47, clean licence, full ncb, standard car, 3000 miles, kept in garage, living in the suburbs? It surely doesn't get any better than that?

when i bought mine it was imaculate and still is been very relaible but needs new clutch prob soon lol standrd clutches dont like 400bhp
