Stupid question probably. Are these all diifferent so that I can check the correct engine is in my car or do they just indicate the engine type ie.twin turbo or NA etc. Also where is it to be found I don't have my car at the mo but will be checking it on tuesday.

number is very hard to read in most cases.

it's on the back of the engine, drivers-side on a RHD car there's a small tab of the cylinder block stick out (below the cylinderhead) where the number is punched in.
