I do not condone copyright theft however the music, film and games industry have a licence to print money and do not offer their products at reasonable prices so it is not suprising people copy them!

The bizarre thing is that for reliability the cheap console game is 100%. But some business software that costs thousands is a bag of poo. We have this software that costs £1800 per PC that is suppoed to arrange different shapes in a 'nest' so our waterjet cutter machine can get best yield from a plate of titanium. And this Flow-master software is a total load of crap x 10. latest version still looks like a windows 3.1 application and crashes all the time. Damn you Flow Corp i will get my evil on you!

When I read it I was thinking about dvd's rather than games. But with both I am a big packaging fan. Weird I know but I love having a library to look through for games, dvd's and books.

Totally agree with that. Lots of businesses almost routinely pay thousands, or tens of thousands for software that's absolute crap. Never ceases to amaze me.

It's due to lack of research and good IT people

human nature will always have you going for the cheaper option when it comes to copied goods right or wrong it will never change but put yourself in the music industries shoes they are losing money hand over fist because of copying and it it was your money you wouldnt be impressed either

all the pirate stuff ive ever seen is rubbish quality, and having upwards of £1k worth of hifi I want the best source material and that means buying the genuine products. Also I can be proud of my collection on my shelves in the nice packaging.

no good when your dead bud :slap: :D

neither is a zed, whats your point?

buying pirate dvd's is like buying a replica ferrari, its just crap in comparison to the real thing.

I play copyied games, but if the lads deserve the cash for producing an entertaining and enjoyable game that is good value for money then I will stump up the cash and go out and buy it, like yer Gran Turismo's and Battlefield 2's etc. not some game for the same price which is utter shite and cost's the same amount of cash.

dont ever buy them, you might not see the link but the profits go to fund fake prescription drugs, fake car parts, fake plane parts....the same network which brings you knock off t-shirts and dvds at markets n pubs all over the place filters back up to a small but select group of heavy international crims who would fake water if they could....i used to work with the BPI when i was in music publishing who were very active in tracking this trade its really a method to launder cash and raise revenues for organised gangs....i saw the other day the whole of NEC electronics was faked they were getting complaints from consumers for products they didnt even make...found out factories in china were buying licenses from what they thought was NEC head office to make consumer products...!

you cant beat the sound from an original CD .. the bass is crisp and tight .. the vocals are awsome and the high end just sings .. i dont see the point of spending £1000's on a quality system then sticking crap in the CD drawer .. havnt even found and mp3 that comes close .. never tried copied DVD's i tits'd off with divs coming on site with the all well known phrase .. " you want dee wee dee" they get told to politely leave a in a stressed out site agents way

i agree m8 ,games like half life 2, condemed, battlefield2 etc are worth the money ,very few games are worth the cash the rest arn't worth unpacking to play.

I dont mind paying for originals and dont own any pirate dvds etc but i also think the industry rips people off especially the gaming industry charging £40-50 a game which costs about 15p to produce and i know they need to be deleloped but they make over 50% clear profit of games!!

I have had games before as there perfect and as good as the original ;)

Well put! :)

It doesn't surprise me that there are not many people posting on here that they openly copy DVDs, CDs, Games etc! Did you expect them to?

I'd imagine that there are a lot of people who won't dare post on here, as not wanting to be seen in anyother way than whiter than white!

Yes films and games are expensive and time consuming to produce, well they should get their R&D right then! After all these DVDs and Games are sold worldwide, and every single genuine one is still overly expensive to buy. I saw a film produce back in the Eighties the other day just released on DVD for the first time (can't even remember what it was now) but it was for sale at £15!!!!!! Full price for a film that's been at the cinemas years ago, been out on Video for ages, and they are still charging full wak for it! And some wonder why people pirate them!

Incidental, I don't condone buying pirated stuff of other people and funding organised crime, if I wanted it, I'd do it myself.

Well that's my 2p worth ;)

You wont find an mp3 that comes close mate, thats the whole point of it. Its a compression format like jpeg. The quality depends on the bit rate that you sample it at. Its there so you can make a track 10 times smaller if you want to use it on a small music player such as an mp3 player, that wont have the quality of the £1000s Hifi.

If I like a band then I'll buy the CD but the music industry is blatently peddling and marketing awful music purely for the point of money making so I don't blame people for pirating. Its not like any work has gone into half the stuff in the charts anyhow, its just puppets singing a formulaic song. If the band has spent a lifetime learning to make amazing music THEN they deserve my money.

lol...manufactured bands and manipluation wanst it ever thus in the UK record bizz.... history has it that the beatles first chart entry was because most of the copies sold were to be found under manger Brian Epstiens bed

i was reffering to music,i wouldnt waste £15 on a dvd i will watch once and leave it there for 10years :slap:

I payed £30 for a game today. I will normally download games for my Xbox, I know it is wrong but the thing is though out of all those games there are only a hanfull of really good ones. How can the games industry justify a £40 price tag for a game and then sell it a few months later for half the price. The only way to beat piracy is to sell games for £5. Like in the good old days of the sinclair spectrum.

It is just another way of breaking the law. Nearly everbody in this forum breaks the law, we do own a car that will do 100mph +.

The game I bought was for my daughters Nintendo DS. The game was for me though :)

Granted the programmers deserve the cash, however the companies which employ them and marke the merchandise make a shed load of money too... add to that the greedy government and retailers and suddenly you pay up to 20 quid for a film?! The actual people who deserve the money would be paid the same if we bought them for £10 and the other companies involved would still make a profit, but a little less. The consumer and programmer would then benefit from a good deal with retailers and companies only taking their dues and not being greedy mofos. Maybe when this happens I will purchase stuff, until then bittorrent will remain my link to the entertainment and useful world :hyper:
