what can i eat, when on the atkins diet ie:breakfast, dinner, tea

 

i want to kick start my diet, then maybe start back at the gym

 

i know i will have to knock the drink on the head, but hey im determined

I did the atkins diet for a while but found it very limiting, its not the food you eat but the accompanyments that go with it thats the problem...you end up having eggs with everything, heres a basic days food.

Breakfast : bacon eggs sausage black pudding and 1 tomato

Dinner : any meat of your choice with a small green salad

tea : mixed grill with a small green salad again

 

I loved the meat but it was the lack of real sides that did for me

the best one i did was keep below 1200 calories a day with healthy food

lost 7lb a week but for the first few weeks i was starving which is the advantage to the atkins diet as you eat as much as you want of the low carb foods

Atkins is bad / dangerous.

 

The best answer is to keep track of callories and eat loads (and loads and loads) of fresh fruit and veg. Everything else in moderation is fine.

I was thinking about going on a diet as well.

 

Problem is, the hole it goes in, is bigger than the hole it comes out ! :nelson:

My mates a big lad and he tried the Atkins diet. He lost 2 stone.

 

He found it really hard trying to adopt back to a normal eating pattern.

 

Put it all back on within 4 months. He now cuts out most of the beer, bread, rolls and sweetie type things, but allows himself a wee treat once a week. Eats loads of fruit and veg and farts a lot !! :rolleyes:

But, he is over his 2 stone lost, and it is staying off !! ;)

 

I think the old adage goes; Diet determines your weight, Exercise determines your shape. Could be wrong tho.

buy some trimmers pills!! they make you feel jittery but do work and i am sceptical about any pills normally, u still got to diet but they do assist

Im 7 weeks into my diet and im eating everything i used to but just halving the portions i now work out 4 times a week and play badmington on a sunday for a work out and ive lost 2 stone so far and feel amazing. just make sure you hit the gym and do lots of cardio work, tread mill bikes, stepper, rowing machine etc, andything that makes you swet. and it will fall off trust me.

atkins dont look good to me, you might loose weight but your body still has to process all that crap. Too much red meat and fat will give give u drastic weight loss, right down to a few grammes of ash. :eek:

Just look at the quality of the food you eat. White bread has no nutritinal value so eat some kind of wholemeal multigrain if you eat any. Loads of good quality veg, as fresh and un-processed as possible. Avoid all the processed junk, its just as quick to make a stirfry as it is to make a 10min microwave meal.

 

Obviously you'll need to go through several weeks of 'ColdStellaTurkey' which will involve sweats, headaches, shivers and general feeling like pooh. But then you'll be a new man feeling great!

 

Oh and slimmers pills are speed or caffeine in another form!

Thats one of the scary things about dieting when you tot up the calories you put away in a night out on the drink, not to mention if you hit the fast food afterwards.

ive been trying to lose a little weight and get more in shape and i thought the best thing was to first work out where i was going wrong. so i started looking at fat & carb content on food packaging and realised just how much over the daily recommended amount i was.

 

no wonder i was puttin on weight! so now i try staying under the recommended amount and doing exercise. its not a huge amount but i try doing 10 miles hard riding a week and sit-ups everyday. i think the best thing for making yourself feel good is exercise, not dieting.

 

exercise makes you feel good about yourself, dieting makes you feel shit. obviously if you want to lose a dramatic amount of weight then it will have to be a combination of the two, just dieting alone won't necessarily make you more healthy...

Atkins makes you stink too! The above about exercise and "diet" combined is true. Diet is in quotes as you just eat normally. And dont eat at night as you can't burn it off as well.

well i think im going for the calorie diet plan, also cutting the beer down (only weekend drink in moderation) i aint had even a sniff of stella since monday (my nerves are shot lol)

And one very important thing

 

EXERCISE, best way to lose weight and then you don't have to diet, just look after yourself

 

If you eat and drink load of rubbish you will look like a lard arse, so get moving and eat sensibly

 

I wouldn't touch atkins with a barge pole btw :nelson:

I lost about 2 and a half stone in about 6 months. I did my own thing!

 

This is what I did:

 

Cut out all sweets/choc bars etc during the week. You can treat yourself over the weekend, but not too much!

 

Breakfast: Cereal of your choice

Lunch: Fruit (normally one apple and a small bunch of grapes)

Dinner: Normal dinner of your choice but watch the desert!

 

(Sunday: A fat mans fry up :hyper: )

 

If you get hungry during the day, get some snack a jacks. Especially Salt n Vinegar. They're yum! :D

 

Also, lots of exercise. I would goto the gym about 3 times a week and do about 30 mins on the cross trainer and about 10 mins of bike/running machine/rowing machine!

 

However, when I didnt exercise I still lost weight but there comes a point when you lose no more and you must start exercising otherwise you get nowhere! :nana2:

The first thing that strikes me every I see people talking about the Atkin diet they all talk about just eating meet and eggs and cheese. What a load off *****cks.

 

The Atkins diet is mainly vegtables with fish, Meat and limited amounts of eggs or cheese for the first 2 weeks then you introduce Fruit for a week then you can introduce one cabohidrate source for a week and see how you weight is managed and so on until you can eat anthing you want ,but know how much of each carbohidrate source you body can tollerate before it starts storing it as fat.

 

nothing unhealthy about it if you get the Book and do it properly. If however you do like most numb nuts do and live on bacon, eggs cheese and meet. Yep you'll loose weight because your body will start using protine to survive (which is all your now eating) and you'll fook up your kidneys, your bones and loads of other stuff.

 

Do it right it is safe and you'll loose weight. You just got to be disaplined and use it as the start of a new way of monitoring what you eat. Me! I stuck for a month and lost a stone and a half and enjoyed it, but your partner has to be on board. So you have things like nuts and raisins in for snacks and loads of fruit and veg, fresh cream etc.

 

If you come home and she's cooked Chips egg sausage and beans with nice white crusty bread for the kids or got a Indian Take away in, with Papadoms etc. Its easy to fall of the wagon and put that 1 1/2 stone back on.

I'm dieting too, I hate that word I prefer being careful and sensible about what I stuff in my cake whole. Not that I go a bundle on sweet things. I just love me food and is resisting raiding the bread bin, and eating smaller potions of good healty foods, along with if I don't feel hungry I don't eat. Otherwise I'll eat just because its lunch time and think this is lovely I'll just have a little more, when I really don't need it.

Diet is so contentious,

 

I know a bloke that lost about 4 stone doin Atkins and loved it, I did 2 weeks of it and lost a stone and hated it but then I did it wrong.

 

I know a bloke that lost nearly 3 stone buy cutting out all the cr@p and just ate low fat and good carbs, he has kept the wieght off too.

 

I think you have take a look at all thats out there, think about what your lifestyle is like and map out a plan. Don't deprive yourself or you won't stick to it, cook fresh and you know whats in your food, snack on fruit not sugar or slimmin snacks, cos alot of them are crap, drink water not fizzy pop.

 

Just my thoughts as I'm not an expert.
