Can you get a 6 speed box or conversion for the z32?

I have loads of power left over in 5th gear at 50mph + and the car could easily handle another gear. Most my traveling is at 75mph + and another gear would probably save me a load in fuel each year. I'm at 3500 rpm at 80mph and it seems a little high for the v6.

Any ideas?

Sounds like your speedo is out. 3000rpm should be 80mph , and 3500rpm is over 90mph (92/93mph....shows more like 95mph+ on typical speedo)

..or you have an NA or NA rear gearing.

The speed is taken from a roadangel so is correct at constant speed. My rev counter reads about 1100rpm at idle but that does seem right as it sounds like its idling a bit high too. I'll get exact figures later on when i drive home but im sure 95mph is 4000rpm or maybe even 4100.

My car is an import, i take it they are not geared differently?

5th gear at 50mph+ Are you having a giraffe? You only use 5th over 125mph when you rag it in a TT :smash:

All Manual TT's are geared the same, the NA uses a different final drive ratio. The RPM vs speed I posted were accurate, based on gear ratio calculations.

It really does sound like you have the NA gear ratio (which is a very rare upgrade).

4000 - 4100rpm should give 105-108mph

I know a bloke that bought one of those for his R32 Skyline, It lasted all of 800miles before it went bang and they would not replace it as they said it was used on a strip. Now what other reason would you fit a six speed seq box?

that means it cost him $11.25 per mile

quaife do eithe h pattern for £4900 +vat or sequential for £5200+vat

How do you go about matching up a bellhousing? Will you modify a Z32 item? or get one specially cast and machined up?

Oh, and tell me you are thinking of the sequential version. That will be the ultimate mod for a roadcar imho

Thought the HKS box was dog engagement 6 speed as well?

Yes it is, but it doesn't state whether it is h pattern (boringggggggg) or sequential :hyper:
