Without turbos you're looking at £400 - £600 for a standard one. Turbos unless uprated or new don't tend to add much value to the unit although people tend not to let them go as a whole and keep them as spares.

Rebuild and/or uprated engines can go for quite a lot more.

Sud impossible to get one over here. Best price is £1000 for a low millage delivered from the mainland, but you need to do a 60K service on it just to be on the safe side ( another £400 quid) and always ask for compression figures before buying. Then removal of old engine and fitting charge on top of that if your getting someone to do it.

You may be lucky to touch for one on here but would need the above done.

the problem is your going on honesty wether or not the engine had good comp, secondly the heads could be on there way out, lifters could be ****ed.so you pay your money and take a chance unfortunatly

Just look at the amount of clean warranty holding engines going into the US from japanese suppliers:-

http://www.enginesus.com

If these prices include their mark-up and profit think what the auction price is from japanese breakers.......

The jap breakers must be able to ship to the UK. Can the trade guys track down the source of supply for these minters?

Note:

VG30DETT's fit on std pallets so shipping should be easily do-able and worthwhile..........?

Chris

They do, problem is there is a bigger mark-up in the UK. You can actually get a VG30DETT shipped from the one of the big Jap breakers in canada for £1200 all in. Sent as warranty replacement too, so the vat and duty man dont get your wallet.

There is actually a company on ebay at the moment that ships to Europe and sells very low milage DETTS, 2JZGTE's etc etc for very good money.

Any Jap car importer im sure could source engines from Japan, so may be worth phoning a few too

export VG30DETT engines from Japan are 90% junk, so VERY risky unless you have very good and honest contacts in Japan.

Also having 1 engine shipped from Japan will cost serious money, unless it can be shipped together with something else in a container

but still, no warranty, no details that can be verified, etc.

ussually cheaper/better to get an engine with high mileage but in good shape from a (honest) local source and put in new gaskets, oilpump, bearings and rings (and maybe pistons)

or buy a new one from coz at conceptzperformance.com with the dollar to pound exchange still good you can get a very good price at the moment. thats the other option you have

So what is a Fully rebuilt engine go for then? If you dont want to take the risk?

you need to add all the parts needed inc labour

as lymon said

oil pump

bearings

rings

pistons?

gasket kit engine rebuild

service kit inc tensioner,cambelt,waterpump

engineer work inc heads checked for tolerances, valve stems, and valves checked

so add up time and parts and you will get a ballpark figure

aint you supposed to be in work??^^^^
