well if the datascan is reading correct then the timing is very advanced so i'm not suprised its detting!! its reading around and on idle should be 15 tdc so you need to get a timing gun on there asap mate

Mike

you need someone to have a good look at it mate with a timing gun etc to set it up right and it will hopefully sort a few issues out :)

Cant tell anything from a static display.

Use the data logging function and make 3 datalogs

1. Cold start up and idle for 1 minute

2. Warm idle and rev gently to 3000rpms 4 or 5 times

3. Do a run on an open road 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th gear

Prolly easier if you geta passenger to record the logs :-)

When you have recorded them upload them here as attachments then they can be analysed

And the above post is aimed at anyone wanting a there datascan results car analysed.

As kirbs and raiser have pointed out from the static displays the timing is way of whack along with the TPS. The TPS being out so much will effect the timing. also one of the O2 sensors seems very lasy, but with out a datalog its impossible to say which one as they will swing each way on idle as the ECU trys to set a perfect AF ratio, they can only be tested on power but not WOT.

the left of the O2 sensors on the screen is lazy at idle.

Cold start would be ok apart from it cuts out all the time so i have to rev it for a few mins before it settles

The timing is probably right, something to do with the manual conversion i think.

Ill get it checked anyway though.

your TPS is either disconnected or faulty.

that's because the engine is not warmed up yet.

Timing will only revert to normal values when eng.temp is > 80C

your TPS is either disconnected or faulty.

Youre right about the TPS i didnt notice the TPS value was the same on both shots.

I thought Closed TPS should be on at idle?(Red square bottom left of shot)

Airflow looks a bit down on mine-dont know how much difference that makes

(ive got K&N Induction)

according to the data the temp was 80 degrees so if thats the case then the timing is very very high!! and poss the reason why its detting

Someone said before the the timing is showing out on the datascan because of the manual conversion and something or other needing to be connected up.

The TPS has came up with an error on the datascan too.

It looks like that knackered too

it maybe but i would still take it to a garage to get them to check the timing, prob cost a tenner for them to stick the gun on it and if its out get them to undu the CAS and knock it round a bit till its reading 15 tdc

actually it's showing 79C and even as this is only a 2 degree difference of what the ecu will assume as a fully warmed up engine, it will still advance the timing 5-7 BTDC .

> the timing is showing out on the datascan because of the manual conversion

in this case timing would be even higher..in fully warmed up state (temp should be 81C or higher) it would show 25BTDC at idle

Also, the timing advance of the 10BTDC in the case of a AT>MT conversion without ECU modification is ONLY at idle.

My temp very rarely gets to 81 degrees, and my ECU definatly goes into full warm mode before 80 degrees, with timing and rpm at normal levels...and thats the same for every car I have tested.

I will try to note at what temp it does go into the normal running mode, but its quite a bit before 80 (prob more like 70)

Yep, 70 C on mine too.

exactly, looks more like it should do (even if it is green and doesnt have turbos  )
