So me next job is I want to remove the Hicas unit and pipework from the engine bay, can anyone tell me please the sequence of removal for this ?

I have a N/A power steering pump to fit, an N/A power steering pot and if need be will fit an Hicas eliminator kit as on my website, 8th item down

Is it a case of remove unit and follow the 3 feeds and rip em out ;) fit new pump and P/S pot and hicas eliminator ? anything need plugging ?

cheers

basically change the po and the pump, you could hace modified the TT ones but since you got them from a NA it's a straight in job.

As for the eliminator you must fit otherwise you'll have a loose rear end. It's a replacement of the Hicas bar

John Dixons thoughts on it -

I ended up doing the same as ya5een, and looping the feed from the pump to the tank, effectively bypassing the solenoid. Then chopped all the pipes from underneath the car, and will eventually get round to doing the eliminator ( will be getting new subframe so didnt want to fit it twice!)

Cant remember the reasons but john said the na pump is a pain to fit - doesnt bolt straight on for some reason?

martyn from the zen garage ripped the lot out of mine and fitted rear hicas bar give topless a ring

ive just done this with mine smithy. you also need the NA pump bracket and need to shorten the adjuster cage ( you will see when you start doing it ) it aint to hard, also you will need to flip the pump wheel so its facing the other way, as this will align the belt so its not "skew".

hope that helps ya bud

forgot to mention that i had to make up a shorter hi-pressure hose up, if my mem serves me right i think the nipple that aligns the hose to the pump is the other way around so you need to get a NA hose too.. ( i had to remake mine as the new hose was leaking )

Thanks mate, i was hoping to take the pulley wheel of the N/A pump and fit teh wheel of my existing TT pump as it's an unorthodox one, thats possible ain't it ?

The hose replacement, which one is that mate ? 2 hoses come of the N/A pump i think which go to ?

Sorry if am appearing thick, i am on this one :D

cheers

hi matey, the pump wheel will be fine but you will need to flip the unorthodox around as the NA pump sits further back than the TT pump. As for the hose, its the one that comes off the top of the pump and goes down past the alternator, along the front crossmember into an hardpipe.. hope this help.. btw it was me who had the spl hicas arms of you afew weeks ago.

Thanks for yer help so far, but not quite finished with yer yet :D

from the pic below, am i missing anything ? mounting bracket perhaps ?

also the hose that is still attached, that goes to the power steering pot ? and finally the hose missing from the top is the one you mentioned about needing replaced ?

you can just open the TT pump and modified it like i did with that you wont have any fitting problems

Thanks mate, but seeing as i have the N/A parts i want to fit them and ditch as much of the old stuff as possible.

cheers

sorry bout the delay bud. right. the bracket on the far left of the pic needs to be reduced buy about 8-10mm as it sticks out too much. you will need the mounting bracket for the NA pump ( these are made from alloy and not cast like the TT one), as for the pipe in the pic thats ok. its the high pressure hose that comes out. you will need one off a NA.

other than that bob yer pully on the other way round (so it pertrudes abit more) and jobs a gud en ;)

hope that helps matey
