Hiya,

My 300zx Twin-Turbo is poorly and I need a diagnostic if possible!

I have an import, manufactured '93, automatic. The car used to drive just fine. Then, an intermittent problem occured where the gearbox suddenly wouldn't select drive. Three days later, and the gearbox won't select drive at all, same with 1st and 2nd. However it will still select reverse just fine. Is this a common fault? Any ideas what may be the problem and what the solution would be?

When I start it up now, blue smoke will come out of the exhausts. Obviously burning oil... would it be the gearbox oil? Or is this another problem I got to worry about?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Paul

Clutch bands burnt out? You could check your fluid level first and while you are at it, is the oil brown and with lots of residue, does it smell burnt? I hope its not the above...fingers crossed for ya! ;)

Doesn't sound to good there mate. I'm not sure of the details but sounds like a re-con auto box? about a 1k I'm afraid. Excuse me if I've jumped to conclusions and got it wrong!
