My electric fan runs from the moment I start my engine. No a/c on and engine cold so it shouldnt do this.

Is there a relay that could be stuck on or summint???

Featured Replies

sub fan relay i think. It was missing on mine so i just fitted one. Didnt make any difference tho the electric fan still doesnt come on and engine gets well hot once off.

Which fan is the viscous fan? Is that the fan we are talking about?

This will be due to either a poor connection on the water temp sensor, or maybe a duff ECU !

Doh, where is the standard water temp sonsor? is it easy to get too?

What if its the ECU??? money money money????

No other reasons?

Not really a problem in the summer that its running all the time, but not good in the winter.

As Andy says, 99% it'll be a bad connection with the ECU water temp sensor. It's the left hand connector on the top water pipe (usually yellow square plastic connector). Try wiggling it and see if the fan stops...

Steve :)

*EDIT* No 14 on the engine by numbers

are we talking about the viscous fan that cools the rad, cause mine goes as soon as i fire up, but ive changed the temp sensor and there is good connection

maybe this is where my running prob lies (knackered ecu)

Viscous fan should always move, but should spin slower when cold and faster when warm.

With engine off, and cold spin the fan, if it moved freely without resistance then you need a new one.

The viscous fan is the one connected to the engine !

The aux fan is the one infront of radiators. cant really see it !

Well I actually bothered to read the online manual and found the temp sensor (im sucha lazy bast*ard) The clip is broke and it had come off a bit. Pushed it back on and all fine!!!

Will stick it on with a bit of silicone I think so it doesnt do it again!

Thanks all!!!!

Glad it was a nice simple fix.
