trim outside and in, rad's, lights, engine parts (don't sell that as a lump), brakes you should make about £3000 - £4000 if you get rid of everything. might take a while

How long is a while?

months you mean?

The problem is being without a car for and length of time really.

Might try to save up and buy a new car first and then break this one.

What do you think it would sell for?

Maybe a couple of grand

  A tenner, he will be lucky  95% of posts on the forum are birds about problems with his Z lmao.

Why are you thinking of breaking mate?? I thought it was basically a new working Z again.

See cadpauls post

And although 95% of the posts are about problems, they have pretty much all been fixed

Start with basics

what oil are you using?

have you tried a thicker engine oil?

On my last car I had I used 0/40's coulld see where I had just been when raining it was leaking that badly. :nelson:

changed to a more suitable grade 10/40s and was fine after that.

Dont forget coming summer now and your engine will run hotter therfore engine oil will be hotter = more viscose = thinner.

Fingers crossed. Long shot maybe but Is it worth a try?

approx how much could i make

how much would i make if i decided to break the car?

The simple answer is... a LOT less than you or anyone else thinks.

Points to consider BEFORE starting are....

Have you got the following essential tools. 3 Tonne trolley jack. Four good quality Stable axle stands. a hydraulic engine crane.A full set of good quality Metric sockets, extender bars, ratchets etc.

Have you got a storage area approximately the size of the car? cos when stripped thats how much EXTRA space you will need.

Have you got a week to devote to the job, cos on yer own it will take around 40 hours to fully dismantle a car(first time ). Of course breakers like AndyZ and Ricerocket do it in less. Practise always makes for perfect.

Have you got six months to wait till you sell most of it?

How are you going to dispose of the shell?

And most importantly have you got the patience to deal with the dozens of time wasters you will encounter who want the bits but have no money, no time to collect etc etc. :headvswal

As for individual prices. Just look at the "for sale " parts section. Loads of stuff always for sale at silly low prices.

Then look on ebay. Even more parts for sale all at low low prices.

And finally...

Two parts that will sell straight away are the MAF and the UK clocks.

Great!!! money coming in you say?

Maybe, but once you sell them two bits the car is fooked! Its a ded zed.

As always the above is all IMHO. Others may well disagree.

I do however speak from experience.

Pete

Just a note on oil viscocity - when fully warm 0w40 and 10w40 are the same mate. The first number refers to the oil's ability to circulate when cold and the second number is the viscocity when hot.

Although Mobil-1 0w40 seems to be as thin as gnats piss........ ;)

Richard :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
