Ceramic Piston Coatings

Just thought i would let you all know that i am getting my forged piston crowns converted to ceramic by a new process. I read about it a while ago and it seems well worth doing. spoke to johnny about it and he got me the prices. main features:

Toughest crowns ever made allowing you to play with the timing a lot more

reduces under crown temp by 60 deg

anti coke surface

Its at a very reasonable price and well cheaper than i would have ever thought. so if anyone wants tough as fuck pistons give johnny a call at grasshopper asap. well worth the money!

You can make the pistons as tough as you want but they won't stop you head gaskets blowing smile.gif IMO

true, true but i have a habit of melting pistons or doing conrods. Luckily, i have never blown head gaskets on any of my cars!! (fingers crossed)

Well the coating may reduce the risk of melting, but it wont allow any higher boost pressures than the standard piston could previously take.

To stop head gasket failure have the block face wire ringed. This cuts a small groove around the bore on the block face, and then insert a gas filled wire into the groove.

This creates a better seal against the head gasket, and as the temperature increases the wire expands to keep a good seal.

Leigh.

Or get a decent set of Greddy head gaskets. 1.6 mm or so.

Ceramic what??? Do they come with "Armitage Shanks" on them??? ROFLMFFFFAAAOOOO biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Chuckle...chuckle! biggrin.gif

Anyway, what's wrong with the stock Z pistons??? Thought they were already forged as stock?

Forged crank, conrods and piss-tons??? wink.gif
