please help . i have a weird movement from the rear of my car . it handles fine drives straight , but when you go over bumps or drains in the road it doesent feel right . the tyres arn't wearing funny . everything seems tight , just wondered if you guys have any ideas as i am new to the 300 zx . it does have the hi-cas rear steer . think this works fine . the light on the dash lights up when ignition is turned on then goes out once started . please any ideas :nana2: :hyper: :confused:

Isn't it rear bushes when this happens? someone will confirm but I think its a common problem at the age of the car.

If you grab the rear wheels at 9 and 3 oclock and try to twist wheel left then right have you got any movement ? if not it could be a shocker jumping when you go over bumps. push down hard on both rear corners and see if the car bounces or or just settles back to ride height smoothly. Then let us know ?

I had very similar problems and it was my shocks (one was leaking quite badly).

 

Easy test is to push down on each of the rear corners and see if the car returns to level immediately or seems to bounce. If it bounces, the spring is taking most of the stress and the shock is probably knackered... :(

ok thanks will try that see what happens . some bushes were done for the last mot . not sure which ones though .

have tried the shocks they seem to be fine . they don't bounce just return to there normal height . would it be down to the hi-cas steer arms . have hered they can cause problems . :nana2: :nana2: :slap: :slap:

Have you grabbed the wheel and shook it side too side ?

i also have this problem ryan at Z-tech said its my shocks so i'm replacing them asap

i had the same problem, car nearly put me into a ditch after i'd gone over a lump in the road! - in the end it was the rear HICAS arms.
