Quick Boost Controller Installation

Is this an acceptable way to install my Greddy Profec B II without struggling to access the wastegate actuators, access and un-plumb the standard boost solenoids?

http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnettech/avcr/avcr.html

Basically rather that inserting fixed boost jets in the wastegate actuator feed, I’m inserting the boost controllers solenoid.

As I am using the existing lines that connect to the actuator I accept that the minimum boost will be 9PSI and not 7PSI

Thanks

David

Any comments gratefully received

I've had a Profec II for about 12months now and still don't know where to start?

All wiring done etc...... but what about the solenoid & hoses ??

Have a look at that link in my post, it looks very simple

1) Mount the solenoid

2) Disconnect the factory solenoid plugs on the side of the plenum

3) Remove both of the boost hoses from the intake hard pipe spigot (ie where you would normally insert boost jets)

4) Connect a loop of silicon hose between the two intake pipe spigots

5) Insert a tee in the centre of this loop and run it to the 'NO' connector on the new controllers solenoid

6) Connect a loop of silicon hose between the two open ends of tube that were connected to the intake spigots (removing any boost jets that may have been in there)

7) Insert a tee in the centre of this loop and run it to the 'COM' connector on the new controllers solenoid.

8) Connect a vaccum line to the dash unit

9) Connect the power and wiring

Err Job done, no mention of disconnecting or capping the vacuum connection that goes to the original solenoids, this is my question, is that solenoid blocked once the electrical connection is removed? Therefore no need to get down here and cap it?

Just been testing it and all appear to work very well, Lo, Hi, Warning & Limiter, I set Lo to be standard 9PSI boost and Hi to be 14PSI. In Hi I'm hitting and holding 14PSI easily, and the highest recorded peak boost was 15.1PSI

I'd still be grateful for some comments from the experts on connecting the boost controller in this way?

Thanks

David

Sounds exactly how I fitted mine mate!-just dis-connect the solenoid electrical connection, job done!

Cheers!

Couldn’t have asked for better validation.

Having looked at some other suggestions for installation they appeared to be rather complex, when in realty its really straightforward. Just over an hour to install, and only had to remove one right hand side hard pipe.

Thanks

David
