Hiya guys.

Re: ECU Code 55 - Despite 0-60 in 7 secs :(

Well I managed to have a go at reading the ECU codes on the cars ECU today.

I opted for the removing the floor panel and rotating that dial on the ECU itself, rather than the diagnostics port in the engine bay.

What I found was Code 55 :( so theres no errors whatsoever :(

So how come I am still gettin 0-60 in 7 secs ?

I've put 97Ron Premium unleaded in it as apposed to the 95 RON that was in it, and I reset the ECU by taking battery off for 24 hrs just to make sure, its made no difference.

My mate will leave me for dead in his L reg WRX although at the mo he admits defeat, he isnt aware of me having a problem.

Any ideas guys what I can try next ? or do I have to live with it like this forever ?

Cheers.

Matt - Slowest Twin-Turbo on the forum

P.S. Heres the original video link for me timed run, and also some I took today of the error code display, if anyone cant see the videos email me and I will email you a copy :

P.S. I have just watched the 0-60 vid again, the time the car starts to move is 5.5 secs into the video and reaches 60mph at the 12 second marker, which would give a 0-60 time of 6.5 secs, does that sound about tight for a standard TT ?

probably needs a good service and a clean/check up m8, you're only loosing about a second

or it could be something worse like low cylinder copression etc.

You may be in saftey boost, I was for ages until JohN Dixon pointed out that my waste gate solonids were unplugged as it had had a boost controller fitted previously and they didn't plug them back in !

Maybe worth a look

wouldn't coment on why you've got a code 55, but 0 to 60 should be around 5.1 to 5.5 on a standard car.

Cheers guys :)

Wastegate solonids ? eeekk where can I find those Paul ?

I wonder if I should buy a boost gauge and see if that can help identify any issues ? and maybe one of those stoich meter thingies to see if am runnin rich or lean ?

Cheers guys :)

Look it could be an air leek due to a split pipe, or a knackered Recirc Valve or a whole mirriad of or combination of things. Which is why you should get it checked out by someone who knows their 300's or be prepared for changing loads of stuff before you have a result. Which is not only costly, but very time consuming.

Cheers guys :)

Difficult to explain really, there are that many connectors, maybe a kind forum member may be able to post a picture but markzx is right, could be anything.

Where in Nottinghamshire are you ?

I am in Mansfield Notts mate.

Absolutly gutted to be honest, dunno which way to turn, cash is tight to non-existant, I could just about scrape a boost gauge, but cant afford to take it to a specialist for a diagnosis.

I'll go with a boost gauge for now and a single pod and see what that tells me I think, and a manual too to familiar myself with the engine bay.

Thanks anyway guys, I think am gonna suffer for quite a while yet...

Hiya Paul.

Thanks for those links mate :D

Well me bro just came round and I let him have a play in it, hes just bought a 2000 W plate BMW 528i Sport.

He took it for a 20 mile run with me in it and T-Bar removed :D and his words were "jeez, lad, this is fast as fook", so I said do you think so and he said yeah...

Maybe its me guys, expecting a bit too much from the hype ? I aint sure.

I played about with it, askin him to floor it with Overdrive on / off, made no difference, I aint even convinced its even rigged up and working, also with the Power button that made no difference either on or off when floored.

It went well top end, cleared the ton mark at which point the speedo went off, but comes back on again when you drop below 40mph, almost felt a bit too much from 70mph onwards, so I think I just got a low down issue

I also noticed the fuel pressure dial says 0 2 4 6 8, mine was only on 2 and on power went up to 3, and the oil is 3/4 full, not sure if this tells us anything ?

Heres pics of me wastegate solonids (I think) lol :

I think I will start the long process of elimination, and start with a Boost Gauge, anyone know of any nice ones ? ideally I would like a black on with red dial to match the standard clocks.

Cheers.

Matt :)

dude iirc thats the solenoid for cruise control, wastegate solenoid is next to plenum

Look mate , save your money by spending the cash you had earmarked on the boost guage for a specialist opinion on what is wrong.

So youve got decreased boost - what are yougoing to do then? you will still have to work through a million things that could be wrong and even if you find someting are you gonna have any money to fix it??

You are best off letting someone who knows their onions try out your zed - they will be able to tell you if its slower than it should be.

you,ve got to start by finding the boost, then look at your induction, then look at your zorst, then the fueling map (ie a chip upgrade) iff ime right i believe your even running the standed air filter panel arnt you :nono: 95% of the zeds here have been slowly built up and modded so you cant be reading about performance figures and expect a totally unmodded car to give you a instant hard on ;) take your time mate and buy wise and it wont disappoint
