Howdy guys.

Well I should be getting a 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo AUTO tomorrow, straight swap for my Kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja motorbike.

I was wondering can anyone tell me what to expect with the 300ZX TT ?

I have had fast cars before, Calibra Turbo, GT Four ST 185, Porsche 944, Nissan 200SX, etc etc.

My mates got a Subaru WRX which he paid £2700 for, he thinks its a rocket on wheels, granted its quick off the deck but didnt impress me after 90mph.

Will he annhilate me on the road being an Auto ? or will the 300ZX remain the straight line champ ?

Also anything to look out for with it being auto i.e. dont kick down in wet, on a bend etc, would rather know now than learn later lol

Many thanks.

Matt :)

Yeah if someone could look at it for me sometime that would be great, waiting for insurance at mo to come through so cant really drive it yet.

I was just wondering, lets say it was in low boost mode for example, how could I reset this ? on my last car GT Four you just took battery terminal off for 30 sceonds, is this the same with the 300ZX ?

Cheers.

Matt :)

you would have to find why its in safety boost first you can check the ecu for codes with a bit of wire to see if there is a problem (do a search). too reset the ecu you remove the battery feed for 20-30 mins

I will defo do as you say mate and let y'all know what I find.

Cheers again.

Matt :)

thats not in safe mode, iff that was a uk car going right over would be 14psi and these cars only boost to 9psi (work it out) every zed ive had standed boost was just over three quarters the way, and safety is 5psi its still slow even the way the tacho needle just takes its time. to give you some idea how a few mods can help ive got a mines ecu, apexi filter, hks zorst,1mm boost jets and i cant get good times for 0-60 because i just cant get the traction unless my f1,s are really hot and sticky  so yea your car does seem slow but personally i dont think its a safe boost issue ;)

Hmm.. thanks for your input znut

I aint sure where to look now then, if its not in safe mode whys the car so slow ?

I'll keep doin me research am learning more and more each day :D maybe I can get some 60 - 100 times and we can evaluate that.

I'd love to get this sorted soon though cos when me mate gets back off his hols next week hes gonna come round in his WRX and laugh at me in the 300zx, grrrr.

I'll keep ploddin on see what I can learn.

Thanks everyone again.

Matt :)
