my 91' TT (converted to manual) runs perfectly except for when the TPS is set to .45, then when the revs hit 2500 aprox they bounce down to 2000 then back up again, unless i set the TPS to .75 or disconect it totally, then the full rev range is fine except for the loss of around 1-2 psi boost!!!

any ideas on this??

ive cleaned throttles, recon'd IAA valve, set idle, set timing to 15 degrees, its a brand new TPS from nissan aswell.

the only other thing is 2 faulty o2 sensors which im gona replace but wouldnt have thought they were the problem

ive taken it to Ryan at Zyech and its stumped him aswell!!!

any help guys would be met gratefully

Doesnt consult show anything ? Is it similar to when the MAF is fooked Wont rev past 2500rpm pops and bangs !

consult showed nothing apart from sleepy o2's. ryan at Ztech swapped the Maf and still the same, it goes past 2500 if u keep accelarating but trying to hold it there is when it bounces, the car has been poping but i put that down to too much fuel due to the o2 sensors not reading

Possibly hard idle switch opening too late, ie still closed when reving upto 2000 rpm or the same circuit has a wiring fault causing the same, change the tps and /or do a full wiring continuity check from the tps plug to the ecu plug, pay especially attention to any cross readings between signal cables and earth, the braided screen can sometimes cause these kind of faults where it has crossed more than one cable, sometimes the only way around this is to rewire back to the ecu.

things to try:

-full ecu reset (with conzult or disconnect battery for 40min)

-disconnect the seperate connector from the TPS while the engine is running and see if there's any improvement. (This is the Closed Throttle switch connector)

Idle rpm will probably rise though.

-check temp sensor. (or it's connector)

ECU has been reset and the cosult shows nothing,

when the TPS is disconnected the idle rises slightly and the car runs fine,

the temp sensor has been cleaned up, re-wired, and works fine.

still this problem persists.

i think im gona have to do what daveman sujests and check the wiring from TPS to ECU
