A few weeks ago my HICAS light started to come on occasionally. After searching through the forum I came to the conclusion that the fluid needed topped up. Job done and problem fixed for the first time I drove it. Then after that every other time I drive the HICAS light stays on and never goes off.

What does this mean.

TIA,

Dave G

The bottle needs to be filled right to the top, if it drops even a small amount it will be back on mine was exactly the same, Its super sensitive.

All so check the Hicas connections next to where you topped the fluids up, may be loose or dirty connections.

DO you have an aftermarket steering wheel. This can sometimes cause the HICAS light to come on.

mine only comes on after a certain speed, and my wheel seems to go off centre at speed

No aftermarket steering wheel, still got the bus one. I will have a look later at th connections and top it right to the top unless I already did.

TY,

Im having the same problem. This may sound stupid but what fluid do you put in?

top up past the full line

ahh.. i have that same problem lol! was wonderin what that was about :) thanks!

It's Dexron II or III type auto transmission fluid.

Fill it up, put the top on and turn the wheel lock to lock a few times to get any air out of the system then check it again.

If your steering wheel isn't centred then after a certain distance the light will come on as you're permanently telling the car you're cornering when it knows this must be a fault.

If you want to do the full HICAS diags here's how:

It is topped up right to the top. Any other ideas?? Could it be a loose connection underneath?

Have you done the diagnostics above?

Can be a bad connection on the top of the reservoir. Unplug the connector from the lid and short it with a paperclip to eliminate that.
