Make sure your clutch is in good nick and you'll be fine... Just remember your engine will run hotter with the increased boost so make sure your not on the gas for real long periods of time else you may cook something!!! Get some bonnett vents and some Water Wetter for the rad to ensure piece of mind!

Before i up my boost i am gonna have a chip fitted for the extra safety

Get some slam panels from smithy as they force a bit more air to the rad

Get a koyo for cooler running

Make sure your'e thermostat is good

It is well serviced

you are using a good oil

can your brakes take the extra power

change gearbox and diff oil

See if you can get a ConZult check run, to make sure everything is 100% first.

quality i am well happy now yay!!! gonna boost it i think 12-14 psi nothing silly, can i do this by re-mapping the ecu so to speak at a dyno place or so i need a boost controller, as i understand a boost controller only lets you chnage it manually, and ecu is sorta permanant?

thanks

Go with Andy on this one...The conzult could show up fatal flaws in your O2 sensors that would reek havock no matter what chip or ECU you have :nelson:

As I understand it the ECU wont/cant alter the boost?? (not 100%)

Where as boost controllers have an electronic solenoid that alters the pressure.

Or you could go down the welding tip road and get booster jets (basically a welding tip shoved in ya lines) (but liable to boost spikes) :x:

As for a safe boost pressure... Ive run 16-17 for nearly 2 years (20,000miles)

But then again I know of tubs that have blown on 7psi

Luck of the draw me thinks :nelson:

i was under the impression the ecu controlled the boost, like for the diesel golfs, a new chip will increase the turbo boost etc, thats why they increase bhp by so much, will have to ask more about it i think.

where can i get a conzult done and howmuch, i am nr nottingham

Not totally sure about the ECU boost thing but sure someone will post up soon for ya.

As for a ConZult...If you were closer I could help out but Im in herts :headvswal

Im sure there'll be a member near you with a ConZult willing to give it a once over...Either that or wait for one of the big meets.

:duffer:

You need a boost controller or boost jets to up the boost, you need an ecu re-map to keep the fuel ratio correct. More boost equals more air into the engine so you need more fuel too. You should look at the whole package if you are doing this though. You'll need a filter to flow more air, good aftermarket exhaust to chuck more out the back, etc, etc. Obviously its an endless money pit...
