Errr....4 pot front,2 pot rear-you got me thinking now!

Only prob I could see is finding a bigger disc that'll take the hanbrake, but without giving it a try could be missing something! :o

i dont think so.

2pot front-single pot calipers are rears.

Though i may be wrong...

You know what i mean lol!

Basically just pointing out they were diiferent sizes lol!

Yeh,well it only really occured to me yesterday when paintin 'em :) . Why not transfer the fronts to the rear and then replace/increase the front ?

Size of front disc is 280mm Size of rear disc is 300mm IIRC.

4 Pot brake calipers at the front

2 Pot brake calipers at the rear

???

i supose if the fronts have been upgraded then they will be breaking harder than the rears and that will probably throw the breaking balance ( feel ) of the car out ..maybe im talking arse i dont know,  so it would make sense to upgrade the rear calipers to catch up effectively with the fronts wouldnt it ?? im sure that a decent engineering firm could knock up some mounting brackets or mod some spare origional front caliper brackets

Thats what I thought so I put it to the back of my mind, but I saw a boxster or a porche something the other day with pretty big back calipers. Got me thinking again. I think the major issue is disc size reasearch it if buying new discs/pads setup.

WOW - blast from the past! :)

I suppose it could be done but there are several things to consider:

1. discs will need to be 280x30mm

2. discs need to be able to take the handbrake shoes

3. front calipers probably have different mounting points so you'll need to "modify" the existing mounting points on the rear hub (which is NEVER recommended due to safety reasons)

To be honest, I think it'll probably be more hassle and money than it's worth. The majority of braking occurs at the front so whatever you do to the rear is never going to make that much of a difference.

If it was my car I would probably look into getting a complete big brake upgrade kit from KSport. Ie, 356mm front and 330mm rear. If you need prices for this please let me know as I sell a lot of KSport big brake kits.
