Ive been looking into a pair of JWT 530bb Tubs for a '92 Manual J-Spec. Ive had a banter using the internet and the forums 'search' but still pretty clueless on these turbos. Ive heard that you can run these on stock internals but with only around 12 psi. Is this true? If so, What internal mods (injectors, cams, pistons etc) would be needed to be able to run them at full boost and to be stable?

Ive heard that these can give around 550bhp, No idea if this is at the fly or rwhp and other places ive read they give around 450bhp. 100bhp difference?

Has any other guys on here got these tubs and how well do they perform. ie: whats the spool / lag like etc.

hi rob,

they are one of the smaller aftermarket turbos although still much better than stock - very good spool up

they should be fine on standard internals so long as you have a good engine. I would reccomend upgrading your injectors to 555's and mounting them with divorced wastegate downpipes.

with a good decatted exhaust i would estimate about 450 hp at the fly

You'd need at the very least:

-5 bolt downpipes and testpipes

-555cc (or larger) injectors + supporting chip

if you want plug and play type turbos without the need of replacing a large section of the exhaust, you should look at JWT500's or JWT600's

Older technology but very good and proven turbos.

jwt tubs BB530'swith 555s and stock internals chipped and decat and exhaust mods will see you up to and possibly beyond the 450bhp at the wheels on a good engine not at the fly have a chat to some of the traders , Chris ( if you can get hold of him )

smithy, greg or baggins ....get some sound info first before shelling out ..i was going to go the 530BB route but have changed my mind for something with a bit better spool up and less hastle to fit ( exhaust wise ) and still give e 450rwhp..which in the real world , lets face facts is more than enough for road use ..
