I'm near to leicester matey, i specialise in self administered web applications (e-commerce, etc) and i'm starting to introduce AJAX into all my sites :D

 

I'm trying to move more toward graphic design really, £40 an hour is infinitely more satisfying :D

ive always been a code & graphics guy, but definitely used to be far more code orientated than i am now. i still program php and actionscript but since starting my current job in September 04 I seem to have moved much more towards the graphics side of things.

 

what pisses me off is that im earning just over £10/hour at work, but they charge £50/hour for the work i produce! i could be on 5 times what i am currently!!! argh :(

Freelance the best way to go and no-one to answer to.

 

I just bought 50 quids worth of business cards, got suited up and went out and got chatting to people, worked from 9am-10pm every day 7 days a week from last september to get the customer base up and running now i sit back and watch the trade come in. Haven't been out on the road since last september for work it all comes to me :D

 

Most expensive thing i've invested in is a powermac g5 with 23 inch cinema display for 2500 quid and that's it really. Since i started i've had full page adverts i designed published in the daily mirror and just about every local paper while i was working on a marketing campaign with a christmas party, was pulling in about 1000 a week doing that.

 

Its the way to go matey, sod working for 10 quid an hour. I only charge 15 quid an hour for web development but i program in php modules so i just bolt them together like lego :D Doing a 5k web app for some medical consultants and i've spent hmm about 2 days on it really? lol

 

Its stressful and i don't get much time off really but my bros going to be joining me and then i'll be sorted.

well about 7k mate might sond a lot but it has double that spent in mods and only done 40k miles
